Wonderful!! We can get a 128 team field for the NCAA Basketball title, but the guys who run NCAA Football can't seem to put together an 8-team Playoff :nohead:

If this occurs, March Madness will become an even bigger joke and fraud on the landscape of the Ameriman public.

That would suck. Practically every major conf team would be in. Would totally kill all the interesting bubble stuff. I'm OK with adding maybe 3-5 more teams in some way, maybe more play-in games, but 128 teams is insane.

128....LMFAO!

Therefore, 90% of all BIG EAST, BIG TEN, and ACC teams qualify every year.......or should.

agreed....... when you have 20 point spreads in some tourney games you know it is already out of hand. I am glad for teams like GM, that is the type of stuff that makes a tourney great, which is why I can live with 64 teams and love watching most of the games, but any more then that and it is going too far.

This is the reason why football is the most exciting sport, both college and NFL. Every single game, especially in CFB has a direct effect on what a team will do in the post season.

They should go with a 68 team field with a 1st round bye for the #1 seeds to reward them for the regular season.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

If they did this then the NIT would disolve, and I think thats what they want to do is consolidate the 2 tournys into one super tourney..sine the NCAA already owns the NIT & NCAA tourny...JMO

CBB coaches are in favor of expansion because they're worried about their job security, now that mid-majors are getting more respect and therefore more tourney spots. The success of George Mason, Wichita St, SIU, etc. over the past few years has added a TON of pressure on coaches from the power conferences, as well as coaches from mid-majors. The pressure to qualify for the Dance is now greater than ever, and for some programs very realistic.

Coaches favor expansion because the collective job security of a head coach has plummeted. Can't say I blame 'em.

Not sure how that would work. Somehow gotta get down to 32 after the first round. If the 64 remaining teams play that gets 32 + the 4. Then what?

How about 4 first round byes and 16 play-in games (32 teams) plus 40 other teams (total 76 teams). The play-ins get it down to 16+40=56. Winners of those games reduce it to 28 + the 4 first round byes and we're set. Might complicate bracketing.

At least with this more teams have a chance but the lower 32 teams have to win an extra game. Should thin the field nicely and produce better quality games from the second round on.
