I suggest we have a 1 year handicapping contest beginning with the start of the football season .

Every player makes 1000 picks .

CFB
NFL
CBB
NBA
HOCKEY TOTALS
GOLF MATCHUPS UP TO - 130
NASCAR MATCHUPS UP TO -130
BASEBALL GAMES UP TO -130

AND TOTALS FOR ALL .

Simply a contest where we count wins and not units ..

Would love to see how many guys would win over 500 plays .

WHALE, well we wouldnt get too many players at the dinme buyin. I would play for a dime, but we wouldnt ahve much company.

How about lets say an entry fee of $200?? Everyone can afford that around here

amazing to me that this place has 2 or 3 thousand people loitering around and their isnt 20 or 30 of them that would be interested in something like this.

just makes my case once again that 98 % of the people here are nothing more than big timers hiding behind a keyboard...

I'd be at least interested if it was 200, but a dime is too steep for a kid(relatively speaking) like me, for a contest. Probably too steep for most others as well, regardless of how much they throw down on their actual bets.

I tend to agree with you, though, regarding the last part of your post...although 98% might be a bit too high.

Also, how can you have a contest without units? That'd make no sense whatsoever to me, personally.

The rules could be adjusted by opinions.

I think its a great idea.

Dime buy in. Talk about some interest being generated.

Gotta be 20 on here that can afford a dime right? right? right?

200 would be a good entry . 1000 is too high .

it would be without units because of the parameters i placed on what types of bets you make. mostly -110 stuff...

but really , it could be any way people wanted to do it .

i would just to like to see a contest that went all year .

thats a long time for just a $200 investment.

surely 20 or 30 could rake together a dime.

I believe the RX already tried this via free entry, but restricted to like the first 10 posters who signed up or something...think it worked for a while, but people became disinterested and stopped posting daily. RX Daily Bread I think? I'm too lazy to go looking for it, but maybe Journeyman knows or something.

that wasnt a contest . their was nothing at stake ..

i would go up to 4 or 5 hundred . 1000 is a touch too much

its a good idea but wont happen.. a year is too long for a contest, interest would dwindle, couldnt keep the excitement up.. people might have to drop out along the way, alot of things can happen in a years time..

if people lost interest , that would be their problem...

usually a losing record is the only reason someone loses interest in a contest where they paid an entry fee...

i figure people are around here all year anyway , why not have a year long contest..
