HinesWard86 said:It's because of the mindset and how these sports built themselves up. Baseball built itself up as a gentleman's game, a game that proper men could play and root on. It's also called American's Pasttime, so more older folks care about it than football, with the older folks being the main ones complaining about this. Also, the MLB has handled this extremely poorly and have come off as inefficient and apathetic, providing further lambasting of their policies.
However, football has always been a violent game. It wasn't as popular in the early part of the century because it was considered a game for ruffians. Teddy Roosevelt even threatened banning it after I believe 25 college athletes died playing it in one year. It has always been seen as a very physical game and it's more expected to juice up there. Much like hockey and wrestling, people don't bat an eye when they find out that football players are using HGH.
