<o:p> ATLANTA/Baltimore under 9½ -1.04
Total is a tad too high here as both these pitchers have shown signs of brilliance and we all know Daniel Cabrera can come up aces on any night. As for Chuck James, he’s only made one start but he didn’t look a bit out of place and he was dazzling in eight relief appearances. In 19 innings of work, James has allowed a measly eight hits and three runs and he’s struck out 14 batters. He went a full eight innings in his debut as a starter and surrendered just two hits and one earned run against the capable offense of the Devil Rays. The Orioles are 1-12 on the road vs lefties and this southpaw is one they’ve never seen, which can only help our cause. Asking these two to score 10 runs in a National League Park with these hurlers going seems like a bit of a stretch and we highly doubt it’ll happen. Play: Under 9½ -1.04 (Risking 1.5 units).

TORONTO –1½ +1.12 over Philadelphia
Adam Bernero has resurfaced as a fill-in starter for the Phillies while they wait to get some healthy bodies back. Bernero hasn’t started since 2004 when he was with the Rockies and they couldn’t wait to unload him. Before that he also pitched for the Tigers but that was at a time when Detroit was losing 110 games a year and he couldn’t crack that line-up either. Lat year, as a member of the Braves bullpen, his ERA was 6.51 in 37 appearances and they, too, decided he was a liability. Being released by the Tigers in ’03, the Rockies in ’04 and the Braves pen in ’05 does not look good on one’s resume. The Phillies aren’t doing much of anything these days and a trip to Toronto doesn’t figure to change much. The Jays are hot and they just keep scoring runs and winning ball games. The Jays bullpen is stronger than most and although Casey Janssen has labored recently, we’ve seen him pitch very well in quite a few starts this year. Jays could easily put up a bunch tonight and we just don’t see the Phillies keeping pace. Play: Toronto –1½ +1.12 (Risking 1.5 units).

atlanta bullpen will make that total a sweat. I would never bet a Braves under with that pen.
