My sources inside Yankee nation say that Steinbrenner has told Cashman to contact Sammys agent and inquire about Sammys current physical state. If he is in baseball shape and can pass a physical look for the Yankees to make Sammy a "serious" offer. With Sheffield and Matsui out for who knows how long and the Yankees open checkbook doesnt this make sense.
