Do you think that the Tigers would be willing to trade Joal Zumaya for Smoltz?

I doubt it, he should/ will be the closer fairly soon.

To get something of value, you have to give something in return.

I think the Tigers can survive without him. He is not even in the featured role yet.

You add Smoltz to Bonderman,Rogers,Morroth and Varlander, and you have a World Series winning pitching staff.

I think this is a very fair trade.

I think it would fit both teams perfectly.

Smoltz is from DETROIT, and you know the Braves need a young closer.

You absolutely do not do that deal if you are the Tigers right now. In my opinion we have no need for a starter. Zumaya is an integral part of this years team.

If you trade for Smoltz (or anyone else for that matter), you give up a prospect that hasn't made it yet. That's the point of trading for an aging player, give up somebody that MIGHT pan out.

I can understand why you would want the trade being a Braves fan though.

We have a lot of young arms in AA and AAA, and even Ledezma right now in the majors. They would be a lot better to trade than Zumaya would be.

Looking at middle relief across baseball, Zumaya is a huge reason they are where they are. I keep him and offer someone out of the minors. There are others they could go after too. I think they still need a lefty stick.

Would never make that trade. Zumaya was a starter and will probaly be one again if they do not make him the closer first. Also the young arm of Zumaya has to be a main factor. Smoltz was a Tiger before when he was traded to the Braves for Doyle Alexander back in 1987.

have heard a few interviews from Leyland and Dombrowski(GM) and they sqelched that deal right away.

They said no way and I beleive them.

Zumaya is top notch and one of the main reason the our good this year and will e for many years to come.
