Mets have such a huge lead in the NL east that no single game is that important to them. They can afford to experiment. Sunday night was prime example. Mets had rookie pitcher in Yankee Stadium who looked so nervous he looked like he was hyperventilating. Also din't trust his stuff and was afraid to throw the ball over the plate. Randolph, who managed like he is still on the Yankees payroll, left his rookie in the game without any hint that he was inclined to pull him until he had given up early 4 run lead and put the Mets 5 runs behind.
Soler may be an effective big league pitcher at some point but he is overmatched now. I've seen BP pitchers who are harder to hit.
BTW, Randolph looks like he might be in over his head too. Hard to tell since he has so much talent on the club, but he sure didn't look very managerial Sunday nite.
