Source: Big Ben Heading To Bulls

The biggest free-agent prize of the NBA offseason appears to be off the market. Ben Wallace has informed the Pistons he will sign with the Bulls, Insider Chad Ford reports. The deal is believed to be $52M for four years.

I'm sure behind closed doors, the Pistons are saying "good, take him."

Pistons offered $49.6 over four years, which was "disapppointment" to Wallace, LOL... But an extra $600,000 per year is ALOT better???

btw, if he would have resigned with Detroit, that contract offer would have made him the team's highest player

Maybe it is "disappointing" compared to this:

Nuggets dish out $60 million contract to keep Nene in Denver

Denver hopes the oft-injured Nene can stay healthy. (Getty Images)
"If ever there was any doubt about Mr. Kroenke's desire to bring a championship to Denver, this weekend's events put that to rest forever," Fegan said.

The contracts, which can be signed July 12, also will nudge the Nuggets into luxury tax territory.

Nene, who has career averages of 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds, played just three minutes last season before blowing out his right knee on opening night. He is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and isn't expected to return to full-court activity for another two months.

He also missed 27 games in 2004-05 due to injuries, but the restricted free agent was one of the most prized players on the market because of his youth -- he's only 23 -- and rare mix of brawn and athleticism for a man who packs 260 pounds on a 6-foot-11 frame.

Along with the great draft they had, the Bulls will be incredible.

It would seem they are instant contendors for the Eastern confrence crown.

Bulls should be favored to win the East now. This signing was for way too much but the Bulls have everything they need to win a title now.

Told you someone would overpay for his services...fortunately, the Bulls are one of the few teams out there whose style of play fits what Big Ben brings to the table.

Still vastly overpaid, though...and not worth nearly as much to the Bulls as he was to the Pistons, whose defensive system catered to his strengths and hid his weaknesses.

Bulls surely overpaid for Big Ben. However, with the Bulls adding the defensive presence of Wallave to what was already the #1 defensive FG% team in the NBA, this is a great signing by the Bulls. They have more than enough offense with Nocioni, Gordon, Hinrich, Deng and Thomas. I am sure they will add someone else too. They will be right there at the top of the East next season.

The Bulls paid too much for a guy with very limited offensive ability and one of the worst free throw shooters in NBA history. He's a good player but Detroit needs a fresh look. The Pistons looked slow and stale in the playoffs. I think this is one of those signings that will help both teams. The Bulls will be better on defense to go with a pretty good offense and the Pistons will be a faster, better offensive team to go with an already good defense.

No, I don't think they are.

We'll see. I doubt that they are crying right now. They could've stepped up and offered more but they didn't. You don't think Wallace in a place that he loved and fans loved him would leave Detroit for a couple hundred grand? Something must have happened behind closed doors that we didn't see that made him make this decision to go to Chicago which is even worse. I like Big Ben but he was an anchor (as in dead weight) for the Pistons in the playoffs and I knew he wasn't coming back one way or another. The Bulls overpaid for the services of Wallace IMO. The Pistons can take that money they were offering him and go after Garnett instead. Who would you rather have?

This is the most retarded deal ever. Idiots like the Nuggets make it impossible to sign anyone to what they're worth.
