I am convinced that Bodog could become no 1 offshore with a move to raise limits and lower juice and put up early lines to rival pinny. It would be worth it in the long run.

I thought he is a Canadian citizen. If so, how could the FBI go after him? He's even had conferences in Las Vegas, which were publicized, I think. Not 100% sure about that.
What night is this on the tube Friday or Sat (07/08)?

I was watching ABC last night around 11:30Eastern and they showed some footage of the Calvin Ayer interview which was originally aired on June 30th according to this http://www.bodogbeat.com/archives/2006/06/abc_anchor_mart.html

They were giving the pre-hypes for the next show so maybe they pushed it back until today. I went to www.abc.com and clicked on "Nightline" and I only saw some of the stories they taked about last night so I imiagine it will be on tonight or it would already be on their web site.......Hope all can see it. If you can't you should be able to see it on the web site tomorrow as it is one of their main stories "How a son of a pig farmer becomes a millionaire in the Jungle"

Ok finally found it guys, its at 11:30 PM EST....... http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/story?id=2108601&page=1

July 7, 2006 — A battalion of bulletproof vehicles speeds around the dusty streets of Costa Rica.
Security is paramount — the president is in town.
Watch the full report tonight on "Nightline."
The president, that is, of the Bodog Entertainment Group, whose Bodog.com is the most successful gambling Web site on the planet, where you can bet on horses or play endless games of poker.
Calvin Ayre, 45, was raised on a pig farm in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is now the founder and sole owner of Bodog, and he likes nothing more than to promote his business — always accompanied by beautiful women.
"Bodog is about having fun," Ayre said as he relaxed at his compound where four bikini-clad models whose outfits just managed to contain the company's eight-letter logo waited nearby.
"It's no different than what you'll see if you watch a James Bond movie. It's basically the philosophy is that we sell fantasy. We're in the entertainment business. It's pretty much identical to what you see when you go to a movie like a James Bond movie. He's got the similar strategy. And it's attractive to people. People like it," he said.
They certainly do. Last year, Bodog.com, in only its sixth year of business, turned over about $7.3 billion in wagers and gaming. What's most surprising of all is that it is illegal to run an online gambling business in the United States. That hasn't stopped Ayre.
Instead, he has arranged a complex international business model that means he doesn't fall foul of the laws of any particular jurisdiction.
His core business is based on two floors of an office complex in Costa Rica, with employees running the main gambling business — setting odds and taking bets. His revenue is processed through the Royal Bank of Scotland in London where payments are received and winnings are paid out. None of his transactions take place within an American financial institution.
So although most of his clients are based in the United States, Ayre maintains that none of his financial processes are subject to this country's laws or system of taxation. He has a term for his carefully conceived business. He calls it "jurisdictional arbitrage."

Calvin Ayre is the only one I feel can save offshore gaming from being cracked down on by the US. I hope he can use all the power, money, and BoDog babes he has to keep this going like it is. Although I still don't even have an account at BoDog, this is the kind of guy all of us want to root for!

Jefe,

He's definately taking Offshores to the next level and trying to bring it one step closer to legality especially at such a critical time when we have lobbyists working for and aginast us. Hopefully when all the dust settles everyone all over the US over the age of 18 can legally sit down at a computer any day of the week and bet on all major sports from the comfort of their own home and not worry about whether or not they are breaking the law........:toast: I just think he shouldn't brag about being untouchable and every article has to mention the fact that he pays no taxes to the US even though 90% of his database is from the US, because he's just gonna piss some D.A. off and they're gonna make some examples of people.

Only time will tell if the US will trump something up against him. You never know with Uncle sam, but I would'nt want to poke a sleeping lion especially one that is known for kidnapping and torturing its prey......What about the other American owned offshore books that have to deal with the wake when he is finished with the spotlite because those are the ones they are going to come after and there is nothing nastoer than the IRS. Just my 2 cents.

I'm aware that anything is POSSIBLE with the US Gov. And I will make a clear prediction here. (Hope it doen't happen of course). But---If the US Gov. should pass a law making it illegal for a player to BET offshore, this board will become a ghost-town for US citizens. I know--I won't post again and will in all likehood stop playing. I doubt it will happen...but.

I agree with you 1st, hopefully lobbyists and the like can convince Uncle Sam to open their eyes(Tax Wise) and allow everyone to pay their taxes on winnings and open U.S. banks up to offshores so we can pay taxes on our part as well. Everyone wins and we move on with yet another favorite pastime "Legalized Sports Gambling". :dancefool
