I find my self clicking from link to link throught the information they provide and end up way off subject. Its extremely interesting though. I bought an expensive Encyclopedia set for the kids thinking I was doing something for their higher learning etc... and they were like "Dad we got the internet, who needs a book?". After looking through some of them I realized that there is a lot more information available online than they can fit in those books......Needless to say they are still in the boxes :nohead:

only problem with it is that people are responsible for the entries, so it can be inaccurate.

I've look at some entries that are in my area of professional expertise and have been very impressed. I think the reality is that the community produces a reliable and informed consensus. This is a great example of how the net was meant to be used.

By the way who is responsible for the production of enyclopedia in book form? Monkeys?

Wiki is incredible

Yes, anyone can enter something in there. But, they also have dispute threads to decide what is best should a conflict arise. I have seen it first hand. Everyone watches everyone else, no one man's word is law.

It is very communal, in a sense it is governed by nothing other than one another. No one person reigns supreme, intelligence and understanding win out.

If there is something you don't know much about, and you research it there. You will learn a lot. And probably 99+ % of the time it will be 100% correct.

They cover many obscure topics, and often in depth. The innacuracy talk is just silly. would you rather read it out of a book published a year ago by some team of guys or by a system that is prided by many to give absolute correct info?
