FYI:
Internet Archive does not have many bands that are mainstream...mostly no-name bands for live music.

Limewire has some but now many live acts...

I was operating under the assumption that most people looking for live concerts that are unavailable in stores (i.e. bootlegs), they are looking for jam bands. Archive is a hotbed for trading of live shows from jam bands.

Umphrey's McGee -- 697 shows
Moe. -- 1,024 shows
Greatful Dead -- 2,863 shows
Ratdog -- 182 shows
Sting Cheese Incident -- 894 shows
Derek Trucks Band -- 485 shows

And many others.

I use www.dimeadozen.org which is a bittorrent file sharing site. Tons and tons of shows showing up all the time (and some videos). I think this is exactly what you are looking for. You need to know how to use bittorrent to download/upload and use other software to convert the downloaded files so that they can be burned to CD's. You also need to sign up for an account. Everything is free. They have about 100,000 members and sometimes membership is full. Keep trying every few hours or days if they say it's full.

I joined about 9 months ago and have downloaded over 100 shows, most of which I subsequently put on CD after checking out the sound quality.

I grabbed a tremendous Dead Kennedys show from 1982 in Amsterdam the other day with some great improv rants from Jello that are visionary in terms of todays political climate.

I've also gotten some things off of bt.etree.org

Just to give you an idea of what dimeadozen has, I just started downloading a couple of shows. The Who at Boston Garden (1976 make-up show for when Moon passed out 10 minutes into the gig) and CSNY from last night (7/6/06) in Camden, NJ. The Who show is flying at a high download rate and will end up taking about 30 minutes to download. The CSNY show is moving much slower and will probably not finish tonight.

One of the drawbacks is that the computer slows down.

Harry and Cut...since you guys use bittorrent, do you need an invite to OiNK by chance? I've got a few to give. OiNK is the ultimate file sharing site, as it has every album known to man. For free.

Let me know if you or anyone for that matter needs an invite.

Its a website that has every album ever made available for download for free. You have to use bit torrent software to be able to download, and you have to keep a ratio of downloading/uploading near 1.0.

If you can use bit torrent, I'll be happy to give you an invite.

Never heard of it, but I accept. I'm a little reluctant to post my email here.

OK Viking, I sent the invite. It may arrive in your spam folder. If you have any questions regarding bit torrent let me know. If you don't have a bit torrent client, I recommend utorrent. Just google it.
