Just curious. I never was rich. My family is middle class. Has having or gaining lots of money give you a bigger ego? For example, because of your higher economical status, does that make you feel better than others OR you're pretty much the same person even if you weren't rich?

Just curious.

Lifestyle adjustment is difficult for most people.

Now, if you were working your whole life and preparing for that day you would become uber rich. Then, you might make the transition a lot better than your average person.

Suddenly become rich types with a new found ego ? This stems from those just wishing they had more than they have had their whole life. The whole 'I'm the boss now, I've got something MF' mentality takes over.

Money is a figment of Peoples imagination. I've known some very Rich People and they are no different to anyone else Psychologically, once you are over the hump or poverty line, all is equal. As long as your happy you dont need the extra cash, look at Gamblers, what do they do if they win on a big bet? Bring the Family on a nice Holiday, buy a better Car? no, have bigger and better bets.

Enjoying Life is all about finding your niche and surprisingly money normally isnt an issue. An average income person enjoys his holiday as much as the rich man on his, if not more. The feeling of wanting something is much better than actually not needing it, I remember always wanting to be a Pro Gambler but when I actually came in contact with them, I seen what a sad life it is.

However, that didnt deter me and I am now the Pro and I live a Great Life, mesmerised by flickering screens, back and forth, wound up by missing a price, stuck in a chair all day and most of the evening. And all to win money for what? Holidays, havent the Time. I live in a part of Ireland, Sligo, that Joeyfitz will tell you is some of the most stunning countryside and beaches anywhere. At the moment We are having a heatwave yet what do I do? sit at the PC in case I miss something.

Like i say, when your over the Hump, its all the same. :drink:

I am by far NOT rich, but having been doing bad lately.........

the one thing I have noticed is that I am far more intolerant to common stupidity....more demanding without going into the *sshole attitude of "I am the customer....lick my feet and do it with a smile!"

I have also gained a lot of respect for hard working people and pay them more than I normally would for common services (for example the maid or the guy that washes the car etc.......you do a good job I will try to reward you according to how well I am doing)

Waiting on a defination of "rich".

While waiting it has occurred to me (using my defination of rich); that those people never seem to get enough to be satisfied. Maybe that's part of the defination . Don't know--I live paycheck to paycheck.

I agree this question needs to be answered. It all depends on what someone calls RICH. There was a thread very much like this one a few months back.

No one wants to quantify what "rich" is. Fine.

I know my own financial situation has improved dramitically over the past 5 years. Part luck, part hard work, part "smarts", and some from gambling.

What does it mean? I make enough that I do not have to worry about paying my bills. I only have to figure out what to do with the excess money. And not worrying about money means not fighting about money. Not worrying or fighting about money lowers your stress level and makes you live longer.

Am I the same guy who made and and had significantly less money, pretty much. Maybe I am a little less tolerant of stupidity from some people (professionaly and otherwise).
