Since i never even stepped foot in Florida i would like to know if any Florida guys know anything about New Port Richey and Palm Harbor areas. Good place for a family? I know there are plenty (more then plenty i imagine)of things to do but i am concerned about the quality of life for a family with younger kids (6,8 and 11). We may have a chance to move there for a great price and just am looking for initial feedback before i decide to fly down and look further. I appreciate all feedback! :toast:

The entire TB/CLEARWATER area is a tremendous place to live.

I live a few miles south of NEW PORT RICHEY and live it here.

My grandfather actually lives in New Port Richey in one of the many retirement communities. It can be a little hard for kids around there because the majority of the population is the elderly, but it is still a very nice place. Really don't have many crime concerns down there, the weather is very beautiful, and you are close to the Gulf.

Almost moved there, but hurricane concerns got the best of me. Good luck.

Like Fish said, can't go wrong in the TB area. NPR is a little tilted toward the retirement folks, but the Palm Harbor/Tarpon Springs area is great for families. Recent road improvements have made access to downtown Tampa much better.

Palm Harbor/Tarpon Springs is a great area, close to the beaches, airports, downtown Tampa....believe I will be looking into this area for a house in the next 6 months.

I lived in Dunedin, which is a few miles from Palm Harbor, for many years, and my aunt still live there, and I can say that it is a very safe area...has a small town feel to it...I would recomend it to raise a family

Please DO NOT come to Florida! It is too HOT. There are too many hurricanes, too many mosquitos, too many OLD people. Sales tax is HIGH! Stay away, PLEASE! LT:pucking: :nohead:

Florida is one of three states with no state income tax. Hell, it costs 25% more a year to live in a city like Pittsburgh than it does in Florida. Right on about the heat, the hurricane threat, the mosquitos, the love bugs, but heres's another factor: According to a study done by AAA a few years back, 5 of the top 7 cities for car accidents are located in Florida with only Atlanta and NY not in Florida making the list.
