I may be wrong, but as I recall the only guy ever to put it directly into the Allegheny River was Darryl Ward. How is the yes favored?

you are correct darryl ward only.... however, i guarantee there will be at least one in the river tonight, actually should be more than one... i have season tickets to pnc and have saw many bounce in that i didnt think was hit very far... i think its about 440 to make it on the fly... it will be done...

What make you so confident? What is different today? Only 1 guy has ever hit it in the river. The prop only stipulates Ortiz or Howard.

"From home plate to the Allegheny River is 443 feet, 4 inches."

I'm pretty sure this measurement is directly down the right field line.

Check out the overhead shot of PNC Park to get a better idea. I think you'd have to hit one at least 470-480 feet, in the power alley, to have the ball land directly into the river. It would be pretty hard to pull a ball directly down the line and hit it 445 feet. It's more reasonable in right center but 475 feet is a real poke.

real simple, in a real game u dont have people knowingly grooving fastballs (if thats what u want to call them) right down main street... if they dont like the pitch, they dont have to swing... and i figured it was just those two because i find it hard to believe a right handeder would have a chance to do that... trust me hal, its easy money...

I just saw the replay of last years derby yesterday. Ortiz hit a few 470 ft blasts to right center in the event. Abreu hit a that far too to right or right center including one over 500ft. Howard is a lot stronger then abreu although howard wont hit as many. Shots that long happen every derby.

Just saw a Tiger put one in there last week.

I went to that game. It was hit by Carlos Guillen. It bounced and then went into the water.

Pinnacle put up any player to do it and the line was something like -149. Nice winner. Thanks.
