This countrty is producing less and less...I spoke about the lack of american black baseball players back in 2002 right here on this forum, and look 4 years later it's even worse.

And without the black athletes MLB will continue to drift further and further away from the states for its talent.

kids don't play baseball the way they did 20-30 years ago in America, that is a fact.

I don't think kids today in the USA are nearly as active...too much access to lazy activities like the internet.

possibly, or developing other interests besides sports...don't know if i'd call it laziness or not

sucks b/c playing sports during youth builds character and teaches valuable life lessons.

Good point, Journeyman.

We're so used to thinking of baseball as America's game. But look at the World Baseball Classic--America got destroyed.

So many people I know said, well, any MLB team could destroy the teams in the World Baseball Classic--but who makes up the MLB teams? Not just a bunch of Americans anymore!

Question to soccer fans: could the major teams, like Real Madrid, Manchester (or whoever, I don't really know much about soccer) easily beat the national teams that we see in the World Cup? I guess that question could also be asked about hockey vis-a-vis the Olympics too.

I would assume so, since professional teams don't have to worry about nationality--they just get the best players period.

Maybe the World Baseball Classic isn't such a bad idea after all? The knee-jerk reaction so many people had against it was based on a "of course America is best at baseball" attitude. An attitude that maybe isn't so valid anymore.

I really don't think America is the best anymore, especially when the David Ortiz' and Albert Pujols' and the Johan Santana's go back and play for their home country.
