As much as it pains me to admit it, it simply has to be Roger Staubach. Compare his stats to other QB's of his time and see how great Roger truly was and yet he is never mentioned in the Top 10 of all-time QB's when I would put him there over Elway. Also, when Staubach retired his 83.4 QB rating was the all-time high.

These career stats in the clutch and grab, defensive-minded 70's are incredible, especially compared with other QB's of his era.

Roger Staubach: 57% completions, 153 TD's and 109 INT's with a 7.7 YPA
Fran Tarkenton: 57% completions, 342 TD's and 266 INT's with a 7.3 YPA
Terry Bradshaw: 51.9% completions, 212 TD's and 210 INT's with a 7.2 YPA
Jim Plunkett: 52.5% completions, 164 TD's and 198 INT's with a 7.0 YPA
Dan Pastorini: 50.9% completions, 103 TD's and 161 INT's with a 6.1 YPA
Ken Stabler: 59.8% completions, 194 TD's and 222 INT's with a 7.4 YPA

Hmmm, i would take underrated to mean talent surrounded by mediocre cast, ergo never got the acclaim or glory...Archie Manning perhaps?

Special situation: Doug Flutie-- he could've got his ring and/or total NFL acclaim were it not for moronic Wade Phillips.

You mean overrated right? Davis was the product of the
Broncos system, every Bronco RB has ran for incredible
#'s, Davis was the best though.

The guys I mentioned there played the bulk of their career in the 70's while Jurgensen played in the 60's. I would place Jurgensen 3rd on that list though behind Staubach and Tarkenton. Jurgensen is also quite underrated and his numbers are some of the best of the 60's but is just a shade under Tarkenton and Staubach

Spot on, in your NFL thread I responded that Namath is the 2nd most overrated QB ever. Broadway Joe had TWO seasons with more TD's than INT's, TWO. For the first six years of his career, Namath played in a league much more wide open offensively than the NFL as well. Namath was an AVERAGE QB but because of his Alabama career, his amazing contract, the New York hype, and Super Bowl III he is called one of the Top 20 QB's ever. Simply untrue, there are three AFL QB's I would rather have than Namath without looking up their stats: Lamonica, Parilli, and Hadl. Namath was just another average Joe.

actually Jurgensen won the NFL passing title in 1974 which seems like the 70s to me
:suomi:

and Lombardi called him the best he had ever seen.

thanks

When picking my own all-time team, Staubach is top QB in my mind when looking at stats compared to era, rules of the game and winning from behind late. Ex: Montana would have gotten killed with rules of early 70s as there was much less time to throw because of restrictive pass blocking rules and adavantages for DL such as head slap. Also, QBs didn't wear skirts back then. I'm a Cowboy almost hater but Staubach was the complete package and would be awesome today with the current state of game. He also could beat you with his legs as well as arm and heart.

do i know who you are talking about? lmfao, of course i do, dufus. I have known who he was since he was RECRUITED. I follow everything about football, its in my family. everyone talks about schaub all the time. he has been the subject of many trade discussions. Everyone knows that he has been great filling in for vick when needed and many teams have tried to trade for him. i dont know what kind of amateur boards you are used to talking on, but this isnt it. i know all these players and where they came from, pal.
he was great at UVA and set 22 passing records there. he was the most accurate passer in ACC history when he left. he redshirted his fresh year...
what do you want to know? good thing spinner transfered to Richmond huh?
lol
Namath was the first pro Qb to every throw for 4K yards, matt shaub is a back up.
we have ALL heard of him, yes, its not as complicated and big as you seem to think. You are not bringing us any inside info, bud.

:missingte

thanks again

Well I wasn't around to see Namath and I was being semi-sarcastic.
I know you are on your rag and you want to pick fights with people
but I am not in the mood to be fvckin with your ass. You got some
serious issues dude to go crazy over a small basically sarcastic
comment I made.

And read the post again- I wrote "I bet" I bet Schaub is better
than Namath. Wake up mofome. Go take your Midol.

look at you, you are pretty weird each day and we come to expect that and luv you for it. but dont cast blame on others. Im not picking a fight, im just stating the reality of things and how i see it. im laughing, not going crazy. your perception of reality is lost on myspace, dont get that confused with how others feel about things. im not upset, i never was, you need to relax a bit and either learn to laugh at yourself a bit or just change your mind and say you were being sarcastic after being proven wrong. :103631605
either one. but most of all, smile and have yourself a wonderful day.
everyone is smiling but you, gyno....come join us and have a laugh
