I believe this angle used to be quite profitable. Something like " Play against any starting pitcher that pitched in the AS game, in his next start "

Any thoughts on this ?

I would say absolutely not. Generally, pitchers pitch on their third day anyway. THE MOST that any pitcher threw yesterday was 2 innings. This season, alot of teams are not playing tomorrow and dont start back until Friday

I think this used to work a few years ago. The theory is you'll get a good dog price, and the starter may be a bit of sync, but of course the other pitcher isn't on normal rest either.

Maybe go against Brad Penny. I thought he was going to throw his arm off last night.

Yes they are a go against. The thought here is that you will get value because the pitchers will be over priced now. This only works if the pitchers are Favs and are not pitching against other all star

The first of the nine would be Oswalt vs Willis, Oswalt pitched an inning, game is a pick. I'm not going to blindly bet against the starters, but I don't see any reason to bet blindly on a guy because he was an all-star either.

This has been one of the baseball betting systems for over a decade now, and the linesmakers are well aware of it. The lines have been compensated for this system so much that the value might actually be in going against this system at this point. Because it's definately figured into the line, it's very marginal.

Any kind of generalization in gambling that may work for the short term, will eventually be marginalized long term, as oddsmakers adjust and compensate for specific situations. Remember that it's a learning process for them too.
