A knowlegeable friend brought this to my attention today.

What will happen to the Rx and EOG and places such as these two when the internet gambling STOPS???

Which it will probably Never stop entirely, but it will change back to somewhat the way it was in the early days of the offshore.
Telephones and Agents just like it used to be !

real good question but I am sure (if this ever did happen) that players would still find some sort of forum/outlet, not sure if these 2 particular place would still exsist w/o the sponsors.

If you look hard enough you can find a forum concentrating on your interests about anywhere nowadays and I still beleieve that gambling forums would still be around. The talk would most likely be concentrated on the actual games(IMHO).

i dont know........ im not worried about it (gambling that is).........

i wonder if this site could look into running some more (pay to enter contests) for guys that cant get down..

are pay to enter contests legal??? if so, why cant people send entry money to someone to hold and then the winner gets the money...

Insiders, my local is probably laughing his rear end off, on the golf course today..

they talked about this on cnbc this morning.. herb greenburg said that the gaming stocks would take a big hit,,, party gaming was mentioned... he said the land based casinos would pick up and mentioned them... also said that 80% of the offshore action comes from america... is this figure correct, anyone know..

These forums would have to cease all sponsor banners and hence-forth would be no reason to keep them online as server cost are expensive esp a site like this as volume is high and needs a damn good server.

Right now if you are running a site with banners and were running out of Wa. state it would have to cease and dissist now.

There was a guy in Bellingham Wa.had a poker advice site with banners and he got a cease and dissist order from the state.

Even if this does pass, think the drop-off will be very minor. Might be a few small inconveniences but just don't see a major drop-off.

80%???? WOW big number. knew it would be high but not that high. The off-shores need the U.S. business. That is why I do believe the off-shores will find ways around this BS from the government to keep business as usual. Just an opinion.

Can we move the server to Canada or something if it comes down to it? Seems like we'd be able to keep the sponsors and the site. Not totally sure how all this works though...

No he just shut it down and the've left him alone.

He was kind of an idiot as he interviewed with the press even before the June 7th date that the law was to take effect.

Hell Bellingham is less than 20 miles from the border he could of rented a flat or something, depending on how much he was making on his affiliate programs with the poker rooms?

He was a former WallMart employee so sure he made more than that gig!

True. Or they will ban the ISP's of the offshore books. Or prevent US citizens to access offshore gambling sites. Kind of far reaching, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing that.

This is worst case scenario though. Hopefully it don't happen.

Arent both Therx & eog headquartered in Canada?

Would US citizens/residents working for websites deemed to be actively promoting illegal activities possibly be in any trouble?

Woof.

Bush and the new Canuck leader seem pretty tight. How long until Harper in Canada plays ball if this ever happened?

I think theRX and EOG are based in Canada. I dont think it effects them.

The US could decide to arrest US citizens working for these sites - aiding and abbetting... IT would be a long drawn out legal process and it is questionable if they would get a conviction... Most likely US citizens would either move to canada or stop working for these companies...

Books will still advertise here. Why wouldn't they?

50% of online gambling money in the Caribbean comes from the US. Less than 25% worldwide comes from the US.

Ktv, I have no idea, but these guv'mint type folks want to investigate ANYTHING & EVERYTHING about EVERYONE.

If they decide to really place restrictions on offshore gambling forums, I doubt being in Canada will prevent restriction.

You guys are getting your panties in a bunch about nothing.

The house voice vote is nothing. We all knew it'd pass. It'll pass the next house vote as well. Once it gets to senate its a totally different ballgame.

There are people that dont give 2 chits about gambling that dont want to see this pass because they dont like seeing freedoms taken away.

The banks do not want to enforce or police transactions.

The religious wing wants ALL gambling outlawed and Ive heard they'll not support it unless its all. Lemme tell you something, the horse lobby is huge and wont go down with the all.

People know prohibition doesnt work. Some aholes are even just tooting their horn to appease voters so they can get back in for another term of wine and cheese.

I predict this doesnt even get voted on in Senate this year. They have bigger fish to fry. If it doesnt get voted on this year, it may not even come up again next year unless its talk about a study of regulation (taxation)

Clean your diapers out and get on with business as usual. Very unlikely that it'll pass senate. Lotsa critters gonna come out of the woodwork for many different reasons if it hits a senate vote.
