From what I've read there are some good schools out there that could land you a nice job but some tell me the degrees are worthless. I need about 45 credits to graduate but I'm 27 now and the thought of working part time, having no money and driving and sitting in a classroom is almost out of the question. Does anyone here have one or are in the process of getting one with some insights? The school I'm looking at is Excelsior and would cost about 20g to finish.
The key is accreditation. If the college or university (and their program) is accredited the degree you receive through their online or "distance learning" program is the same one that you'd get if you attended class on campus. It has to be...or they'd lose their accreditation. Your local library will have a reference book that lists all the accredited schools if you don't feel like trusting the advertising you'll find online.Last time I checked there were about 3,900 accredited colleges offering bachelor's degrees; about 2/3 that number offering graduate degrees.
Hard to know 'which' Excelsior you refer to...there are a few well-respected ones in their specialty.
Like QL, said-- at the library look up your regional accrediting association-- a group of several bordering states-- or even better: a renown professional organization in your desired field would do the same.
