Some Royals players had a scare in the air Wednesday night.
Airport officials said a charter plane for the team left the Kansas City International Airport at about 8:10 p.m., but the plane lost pressure in the cabin about 20 minutes after take-off and had to turn around and make an emergency landing at KCI.
Royals representative David Holtzman told KMBC the plane took a nose dive after it lost cabin pressure. Officials said the plane made a quick descent to get under 10,000 feet so it would be easier to stabilize air pressure.
"They said, 'We're going to turn the plane around, there's something wrong, and we'll head back to Kansas City,'" Holtzman said.
None of the 49 people on board were injured.
After a short delay, the plane took off shortly after 10 p.m.
The Midwest Airlines flight was headed to Detroit. The Royals will play the Tigers Thursday through Sunday.
