Padres
I was all over this team to end the 1st half and I was rewarded handsomely, not only as a paid play, but a couple of freebies as well. They have won 5 in a row and now get the Braves and Tim Hudson. I am not a believer in Hudson. He is 6-8 this year and is trying to win for the first time since June 10th. He has lost four straight decisions and has a 6.97 ERA over his last 5 starts. Young is rolling. He leads the Padres in wins and ERA and comes off a 2 run, 8 hit effort last Saturday in a win over the Nationals. The Padres are the hotter team, playing at home, with a pitcher who is hot against a guy who is struggling. Lay this very manageable number in a 6th straight Padre win tonight. All San Diego.
Mariners
LIke what they showed me in beating the Tigers last Sunday and Meche was the reason why. He held the best team in baseball to a pair of runs and four hits over 7 innings. He has allowed more than 2 runs just once over his last 7 outings. Since losing to Texas on May 30th, he is 4-0 with a 2.36 ERA in those 7 starts. I have not been a fan of rookie Casey Janssen. He is 1-2 his last 3 starts allowing 10 runs over 15 innings. Get all over the Mariners and red hot Meche tonight
