I have always placed 'stop loss' points in each gambling season, this is the first time I've had to consider quitting for a while during baseball season....So, I decided to make this my reality thread , 'on the brink' of retiring for the baseball season and regrouping for football.

So here goes, I am down to 21 units or ($2,100 dollars to make it easier to follow)...with a goal of still reaching $8,000 with the 2,000 I will leave available)

I'm thinking of focusing in on 4 bets today, all risking $500 or there about.

I would like to hear what some others think...Should I just take off til football, or should I move forward and keep playing?

your too good to quit...SMALLER PLAYS till your hitting your stride, then when your hot, your smart enough to know when to pull the trigger on the bigger plays...no point losing alot because of huge bets when the prime of sports bettings season is coming: FOOTBALL!!!

I agree with Vyrus, no way would I quit if I was you. I would cut down drastically on the size of my bets though, no need to be put on the sidelines because your in a bad run and still betting 5 units. If you got only 21 units left you want to lose and play 4 games at 5 units a piece then you are risking the whole roll today. Cut back and wait until things turn.....

And yes, the second you do cut back you will probably win, LOL. But is that really so bad? Maybe that is what you need to kick start the 2nd half of the season. Trust me, anytime I cut back 80% or so on the size of my wagers I get hot as hell, play 1 unit bets for a while and see what happens. Any solid win streak and naturally you start pressing up again. Just my opinion brother, good luck with whatever you decide.

I think most of us are down are around even at baseball this year, just gotta keep truckin along. Stay away from those damn Indians too.

I'm riding Halladay and the Jays hard today as he will dominate the Mariners today I am certain he will.

And just keep the phrase in mind in your decision: Winners never quit, and quitters never win.

problem with some when they cut back is that they still view a win as a loss and therefore wont allow themselves to be pleased with any outcome.

instead of viewing yourself as in a rut or slumping, just set it up as a challenge. if you had to put your behind on getting to 8K, how would u do it. you certainly wouldnt risk going out if u have an 0-4 night. there is a TON of baseball left and tons of value out there. you know the game and have beat it before. look at the lines, perhaps explore some other options, many things you can do in baseball with all the lines available. there are ways to find money in games with all the options and lines given...many ways. if you ever wanted to talk, i would be more than willing...just talking about baseball or some other options...whatever it may be

but all and all you are a good baseball capper, from what i have heard, and there are so many games out there with value that im sure you can find. i would consider scaling the units back a bit if you are going to limit yourself to this 21unit wall and not wager over 10% br on any one play while you try to come back. then...if you just see a value thats too goo to pass on, maybe talk about it with some people you respect and unload, its a mix of investing and gambling really...

oh well, i wont bore ya too much more. whatever you decide, bol

Dub, I have plenty of reserves,,,it's not about that, I am a very conservative player, when it comkes to my overall bank...if I feel its not worth it anymore I will take time off.

I've been betting about 500 a game...So it comes down to this, do I continue to bet 500 a game with basically 4 units left, or do I cut back to say 200 a game...I'm too the point where I'm so frustrated I feel like taking ONE shot, lol ( I won't do that though.)

I wish I could be more specific , but this is where I am bsicaly....I do like the idea of posting it in a thread to keep it genuine...and maybe take some advice, we've all been here on some level.

foolish thought, if you want to stop....... just stop...

im down 29 units ($2,900) on a 10k bankroll (that i started season with).... yeah, im disgusted but not going to roll the last $7100 on just a few plays..

be patient, if you want to stop capping bases, just stop........... do not play the 4 games for a nickel each, if thats your entire roll now..

took you 1/2 season to lose 21 units, no need of dropping 20 more today..

come on Journey, your smarter than this... 20 units can be made up quickly, one hot streak and you can cut it in half..

:lolBIG: I feel like we've had this conversation before Patrick....I hear you, but I really don't mind the end result if I tank it, maybe I NEED the sidelines, shoot maybe I should follow someone else...it just seems like whichever streak I am riding it seems t end right there on the spot...I've pretty much played the same as always, maybe a little more on the favs, because I haven't been able to stay up long enough to take some real shots with dogs.

just random thoughts I'm rattling off...I appreciate the responses.:103631605

One of the things i have learned since i started with this is NOT to be over emotional, you have to stick to the plan and should not risk your entire bankroll on single bet nor few the same day.Especially when trying to rcoup previous losses, these are the moments bookies make nice profits out of bettors.you should be smarter than that.

If your picks didnt do well this season, maybe time for some 2nd thoughts over new strategy that might work for you and remaining rational rather than emnotinal would be better for you at any point dealing with this.

I know implementing the golden rules for money and risk management being forgotten at times and self discapline is critical issue here as well as having your startegy and sticking to it..if it requires tweaking by all means work on it but keep being consistent instead of placing your entire bankroll out there in terms of "to be or not to be"..this is not professional.

Wishing you better days and profits my friend.

Well, I cut my plays myself and realized I cant hit a total so I play totals at 1 units and not often. I also cut the crazy parlays to 1 units or less. Maybe just hit 1 play a day and consider some favorites too since I know you wont lay much juice and probably wont even look at Toronto or Detriot unless its the Runline.

Good Luck.

My Card is

Toronto -205 2 units
Atlanta -127 2 units
Detroit -1.5 -110 1 units
Mets over 4.0 -105 1 units
and no parlays today for me

Its not my 'entire roll'..its what I am willing to lose before I say enough...or should i just relaod several thousand dollars and keep at it?

I'm thinking Mets for one play....The Cubs are god awful and the pitching match up is pretty even

I'm think Balto UND 9.5 with Bedard and they Birds have trouble with lefties.

Fla UND 8 as Hous is a complete joke on offense and Andy seems to be throwing better.

These are typicl plays for my style but it seems like my bets are ending most streaks lately.

yeah but u seem to have a lot more discipline than most. whats gone is gone, what you've won other years you've won. you have to look at it as you are up in baseball over all, you are setting a mark this year that you wont go below, whats the smartest way to raise that to a certain goal. you are up in baseball...who says you are down? YTD? lol...you could set any limit on how far you chose to go back and track a record...thats an arbitrary date and statistic, means nothing. you are up in baseball overall, right now your wins dont matter and your losses dont matter, they are the past and now, you are setting yourself up to get to 8K. you want to get to 8000, well, cap some baseball man. talk to people and get new ideas on games, you seem to come out with your plays really early, talk with some people on games, get views, dont rule things out, whatever it may be. even if you follow someone its your play, everyone else is just a source, all your plays are jman plays. you are ++$$ in baseball, now you just made a short term goal for yourself, nothing different than most people that are up, they want to reach a mark by seasons end....doesnt matter if you lose 580 on something yesterday, you won 2K on a day last season, thats +, more days than not you have won, you are up overall....scale back to challenge yourself and prove you can do this. you have proven you can win for an entire year, thats been done...can you turn this 2100 into 8K is the question? you havent proven that. are you disciplined enough? are you good enough? are you experienced enough to know that a win is money and you are building towards a goal, money not wagered is your money....you're a capper jman.....cap.
