Stopped by Harrah's today to cash a friend's ticket and walked over to the IP to say hi to Green Doberman and check out the sports book. The IP has an old-school feel to it which is actually refreshing. The casino floor has mirrors on both sides so it looks bigger than it is. It was also packed today (of course, it's saturday), but I was checking out tables and there were very few that were empty, and both craps tables I watched were packed.

The sportsbook is definitely larger than the Golden Nugget, and actually has a tiered seating level, I'm guessing for the horsies. It has the old white washboard for posting numbers, and plenty of seating. It's not Caesar's by any means, but it will be a good spot for a bunch of degenerate gamblers to shoot the shit and watch baseball or a pre-season game. It's also on the second floor so there is a "convention room" feel to going up there.

I didn't check out the restaurants, but shoot, you are ground zero on the strip. The IP is sandwiched between Flamingo's, which has Jimmy Buffet's restaurant, and Harrah's, which has several new restaurants. They've actually done a nice job upgrading Harrah's. If the IP sells out its rooms for RXers, I'd recommend staying there.

I'm sure there are people here that prefer downtown, but I think it was a good idea by the Rx to give the strip a shot. Then again, it may cause more people to wander because the options are enormous from that location.

Green Doberman, sorry I missed you. I'll probably stop by again before the bash to check out football lines.

Many longtime VEGAS regulars call the IP sportsbook home for hours on end during the day.

A poor mans STARDUST in some respects.

Love the place.

Sorry to have missed you WC. Normally, I would have been there today, but I had meetings during the week and took Saturday off.

GD...Sorry to have missed you. I'm sure I'll be back before the bash. I stuck around for a bit and got a beer from a cute little cocktail waitress....she was right up Death Eats a Cracker's alley (see his thread in RR or entertainment forum)

Rob...they did a nice job on Hooters too. It's definitely got the southern boogie party vibe. I hear they have good barbecues out by the pool on saturdays.

But I got to tell you, Hooters girls on the west coast ain't nothing like they are in the south. Don't get me wrong, there are some cuties, but if you are that good looking in Las Vegas, you don't go work at hooters, if you get my drift.

WC, thanks. No doubt about it. And they really need to update those uniforms the girls wear also. That look is just plain old now.

ABSOLUTELY!!

VERY GOOD place for some good grub at reasonable prices.

Highly recommend breakfast there and the also their STEAK DINNER specials.

They also have my favorite micro brew there that they brew themselves on the premises.

Enjoy,

Ellis Island has consistently been given the Las Vegas Advisor best bargain in Vegas for their $4.95 Steak special. I have dined there quite a bit and they are delicious steaks ! The 24 hour a day special isn't even on the menu but just ask for it as all the locals know about it. Yes it is very busy almost every evening so be prepared to play a little Video Poker as they have some 100 % machines there also.

Tread lightly at the IP buffet.

Safety first.

Not sure if you've been to the buffet (the one not far from the poker area) in the past year, but it's now edible and has underwent a significant upgrade. It's been transformed from dreadful to adequate.

Don't know what it's like in August, but in December the temperature in the Race & Sports Book is around 150 degrees. I defy anyone to find a hotter spot in any casino in the world.

they changed the sportsbook around the last year.Couls always find independent lines.not sure since they were taken over by McHarrahs if that is the case. GD is that fine Mariah Carey still dealing with the Dealertainers.
