I couldn't imagine what a person thinks or how a person acts during a battle.

I have a friend of mine who fought in Desert Storm. He was on the front line and saw lots of action. He made it home just fine and posts here once in a while too.

I also had cousin in Iraq a year ago. I haven't heard if he was involved in anything.

I have had someone try to shoot me from 20 feet away. He wasn't just pointing the gun at me, he actually trying to shoot - and JUST THAT SCENE kept playing in my mind for a week.

ONE IMAGE - and it wouldn't go away ... so I can't even imagine what flashbacks people would have if they lived a war for a year.

How do you miss someone from 20 feet away?

normal people like me and 99.99% of the people here would have trouble.........

we live in a civilized world after all, if you want to picture 500 or 800 years ago just watch "Braveheart" ..........you wake up one day, go to fight against the King and you end up with your head cut off...........

Well, we should have respect and care for those that have been under fire for us as we sit safely at home. Hats off to them! I hope they come home soon and I hope that in the future we have supreme reasons to send our own to make supreme sacrifices.

Wolfie, we sure would have trouble with it, but most people like us guys here can be trained to function (some better than others) under fire. That is what the training is for.

But as stands...without training, yeah, we'd be in big trouble. tulsa

Exactly. When married I was in live combat every 28 days, you could almost set your watch to it.

Well said !
Made it through Vietnam for 11 months. Then got shot by a Drunk Blonde 3 times a few years later.
Once in the right arm, then in the back, and naturally Like Forrest Gump in the right Buttocks. YES.... i was running as fast as i could. Luckily the other 3 shots missed as she unloaded a 38 special starting from point blank distance.

Insiders,

Will you be at the bash? I need to hear this story in person.

And look at all of the "freedom" that has been won. I feel for anybody that has gone to war
