Why do poker dealers expect/deserve a tip after every pot?

It's not like they have any control over what cards they are dishing out and what hand the player ends up with anyway as the deck is placed in an auto shuffle machine. So what gives, do they just assume that when a player wins a pot that they are entitled to a taste of that or what-and if so, why? It's not like they had anything to do with earning that pot other than throw you two crads from across the way.

Have been tipping $1 per pot won with the exception of a few hands here and there that were mainly chopped pots and had crumbs in them anyway and another time when I was almost shown the door because of a moron dealer that had a chip on the shoulder, so that little prick received zero funds.

They sure tend to get a bit upset and give you a dirty look or develop an attitude if you should not tip and it gets to be funny sometimes. I tip out of common courtesy to a nice dealer or someone who is doing the job well, and/or appreciates it and at least shows thanks in the form of saying so or a wink or smile. But these old lady dealers that want to sit there and keep yapping about bullshit nobody cares about yet have their hand out after each pot is laughable.

Currently considering cutting off all dealers of tips regardless as I'm giving away an estimated thousands per year doing so and a few dealers are ruining it for everyone since they don't receive the funds directly, but split it amongst the colleagues.

Poker dealers keep there tips in most places, not like BJ and other table games where it goes in a pool.

Dealer/House gets a cut on every pot. Tipping on every pot won on top of that is crazy. Why bother to play? Everyone will go broke except the house/dealer.

So true except for on the rarest of occassions.

Very hard to beat low limit games with a high rake plus tipping.........although for the first time ever, going to attempt this at DERBY LANES low limit holdem just to see the results.

Bullshit Dante. They chose to be a dealer. THey knew going in that the player is not obligated to tip them. So like Chuck all it does is make it more difficult to beat the man.

Sorry I got another rant. Just like the damn track tellers. Thinking they should always get your change when you cash. Or when you hit a good tri or execta. I mean WTF if you want to live off gambling then dammit put your own money out there on the line. Don't live off the coatails of people that are doing it. Fucking track tellers are some of the worst people in society.

Your missing the point of TheMan's post he said why do the dealers feel we are obligated to to tip them. I say along with most replies in here that you owe them nothing. It's realy stupid to tip them after a hand maybe maybe you tip them when you leave but never never tip them during the game. How stupid would you feel to be tipping the dealer all night yet walk out losing $50. Thta would be pretty foolish. The goal is to win money not spread goodwill and show everyone how cool you are.

What percentage of players TIP on winning pots of $10 or more?

My guess is 95% minimum and probably more.

Then I say 95% of people are idiots. Or trying to act like thier a bigshot. Hey if you guys want to give your money that's fine. Why don't you give it back to the person you beat on the pot.

Fish your the person that chases lines to get every edge you can get, which is very smart. Yet you want to give some of your bankroll away.
Just becuase alot of paople do it doeasn't mean they are right. Bankroll is bankroll you guys are the ones always preaching about money management so why would you give a % of that away.

On games against the house, I think they should get tips. They make dirt for wages. Then they have to dress in stupid looking uniforms most the time. They also have to put up with drunk losers with attitueds all day.
Why not make someones day with giving a little something. I know they split it with everyone else in the shift.
I tip everyone. UNLESS THEY ARE ASSHOLES FIRST.
Someone here said they dont tip the servers? WTF
Do you tip stippers?:103631605
I dont tip every winning hand at poker. That would be like rubbbing the losers face in it. I will tip the dealer when i get up. win or lose.

I say" Tip everyone who does any service for you" It feels good.

To show a small token of respect to the dealer and the hard work they perform.

Having said that, certainly not going to OVER tip like I see so many players do routinely. These players have no shot to come out ahead in the longterm, but than again they are they for the entertainment value of live poker and not necessarily all about coming out ahead longterm.

I do respect what your saying TRS, and over the years have drastically cut the amount I toke to dealers in live ring games to the point that I am definetly below the norm of what a normal person tips in these games........but will never get to the point of completely stiffing the dealer time and time again after a winning hand.

THey make dirt for wages is not my problem. I suggest they go get a real job. What kind of stupid thinking is that. This isn't Chinas nobody has forced them to deal cards for a living. Just like the book Nickel and Dime I say you want to make more money go get educated and get another fucking job. They don't give you anything you consume they just throw cards. Hell they don't even shuffle the cards. They have no right to my money. WTF are you people thinking that is MY money.
