Windsor is making his debut for the A's. Kind of liking him here, he doesnt have a blazing fastball, but really knows how to pitch and has a nice assortment of pitches. He seems to have done well in the minors and has great control.
Loewen seems to be somewhat of a stiff for the O's.

The way the season is going, a MLB debut is a no hitter waiting to happen! :puppy:

TKE, I don't know if I would jump on this. I don't think Windsor is ready for the bigs yet. He has a nice record and a nice K/BB ratio, but his ERA is nearly 4 and his WHIP at AAA is awful (1.42), but I hope you're right. He does have mid-rotation potential, but I just don't think he's ready this yr. If anything, I'd hit the over on this game.

Loewen is definitely no stiff , he is the O's top pitching prospect and is getting his feet wet over the past 6 weeks.. He's a big kid with a live fastball and good curve.. control has been his issue so far.. I've seen him pitch 2 or 3 times on tv this season and at times he's looked dominant for 4 or 5 inning stretches before control problems would lead to a big inning against him.. He looks like he's not far off from putting it all together.. Don't know much about Windsor so a tough call for me here,, A's are playing some good ball right now so they very well may be the right side here..

TKE, the more I think about it, the more I agree w/ you. I think I might go light on the A's tonight. Like I said, I do not think that Windsor is ready, but the A's are by far the superior team here and my thoughts on Loewen differ greatly from that of Vancouver. I don't think he's going to be much of a major league pitcher. Control problems are the biggest problems for any pitcher in the majors. Look at the top pitchers out there and you will see that they very rarely walk more than a few batters per game. Location, location, location is the name of the game here. If it werent guys like Byrd and Moyer would be exempt. While Loewen is highly touted, I think that Penn is probably their best pitching prospect and if he hadnt of hit the DL, he would probably be in the rotation now instead of Loewen. Remember, Vancouver said that Loewen has control problems and the A's are a team that relies on patience and taking advantage of pitchers that have control problems, this kind of pitcher falls right into their OPS strategy. I'm on the A's and the over for 1 unit.

Well both starters pitched pretty well, the A's were patient but can't get a damn hit. Not the year to leave it up to the bullpens.
