NY Mets +1.05 over CINCINNATI (12:35 PM)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Not much thought went into this one because not much thought is needed. You see, when we can get a tag on the Mets over the Reds with any starter not named Trachsel, you can pencil us in. The Mets lost last night to Cinci but that doesn’t change the fact that New York is far superior to this host and Tom Glavine certainly doesn’t take a back seat to Bronson Arroyo. Glavine has one loss since April 24 and that came in is last start. In between Glavine has gone 9-0 with a 3.74 ERA in 14 starts and it’s worth noting that Glavine has owned the Reds over his career. Arroyo started out on fire but he’s cooled off dramatically. He pitched decent over the Rockies in his last start but had given up 11 runs and 15 hits in 11 1-3 innings in his previous two outings. Not to take anything away from Arroyo, his numbers are impressive for sure, however, so are Glavine’s, so are the Mets and we’re not even remotely convinced that the Reds got stronger because of that lame deal they made with the Nationals. Mets, plus money with Glavine on the hill; yeah, we’ll bite. Play: NY Mets +1.05 (Risking 1.5 units).

NY Yankees +1.17 over TORONTO<o:p></o:p>
Tonight’s starters really need no introductions; they’re both at the front of the class in just about every pitching category there is. They’re reliable, consistent, fiercely competitive and both would be the number one or two starter on every team on the planet. However, when it comes to current form and consistency, these two teams are moving in opposite directions. The Jays are struggling to win games, they’re struggling at the plate, there’s dissension after last night’s Hillenbrand fiasco and the Jays made the Texas Rangers pitching look the ’04 Cubs. This is not a good time for the Jays to have a showdown with the Yankees. New York has won 9 of 11 and while Roy Halliday is capable of beating anyone, so is Mike Mussina and the price and the situation calls for a play on the Pinstripes. Play: NY Yankees +1.17 (Risking 1.5 units).
