Why do some of the bunkers at the British open look like you need repelling gear?

they were dug 135 years ago.. and unlike bunkers over here , they are actually a hazzard...

love watching this event.

You will see players chip out of some of these bunkers in the OPPOSITE direction of the green as its their only chance of getting out of these bunkers.

their is typically no other trouble on links courses .

weather and bunkers are their only hazzards..

no too many trees to hit in to..

If you think the rough is bad here, wait until next year when they play it at Carnoustie.

And I enjoy watching them play on courses like this also. Not a lot comes easy.

Its a nice change to see a sand trap actually penalizing the player like the ones at the Open ...

Gotta love it :)
