I was on Face to Face with Jon Ralston and a local UNLV expert named David Schwartz. The subject was Internet gambling and also the BoS situation and the House bill. The interviews can be seen on the following link. Look for the July 19 episode and watch segment 1 then 2 then 3.

Thanks Dante. I think we covered some good points, and not just the same old stuff.

My guess is that the Bill has no chance in the Senate. I think the move was a Republican posturing move as part of the "American Values Agenda" and that they really didn't want this to get signed into law. It's already gone far enough to serve its purpose, which is to appease the religious right.

I don't expect the HR 4411 to make it far in the Senate.

Some people say they have more pressing issues, while probably true, I doubt the Senate will get to them either. :grandmais

Well when I said about it not being likely to pass in the Senate, I hadn't seen this...

A bill to ban Internet gambling faces opposition in the U.S. Senate, but backers still hope to win passage of it within a few weeks, a top aide to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said on Thursday.

"We are trying to get something done before the August recess," set to begin on August 4, said Eric Ueland, Frist's chief of staff.

If the Senate Majority Leader wants to get this through, he certainly can.
