I guess, adaware and spybot. Was thinking about downloading the free one from AVG also.

spybot is so great I have donated twice to the guy and his business over the last couple of years.

I hope you use it and if you like it and continue to use it, send in some amount you feel worthy of the product...

SpyBot is the only one of these programs that doesn't slow my computer down to a crawl or cause it to freeze.

Norton made me remove Spybot, said it was incompatible. I'm still getting Partypoker and casino popups with the blocker set to block everything. I have to hit CTR to allow the cashier to pop up at Mansion, but crap gets through. I also get some site for water filters all the time.

Doug - uninstall Spybot and Ad-aware, then download the Spysweeper from my above post. Greap program, plus it checks your startup programs and alerts you of new startup programs.

Why do I have to pay $30 to buy that when I just bought Norton ( again) ?

I think these companies start all the viruses and SHIT, in the first place.

Thanks guys. I will run Adware, Spyware, and SpySweeper. From what I understand, one may find something another can't.

Yahoo Antispy, Spyware Terminator, and Bazooka are good and also free.

Agree that Webroot Spysweeper is the best out there. Its like $20 for a year, or you can get it for free on OiNK.

Don't run them all. Spysweeper will find far more than the others.

I also use Spysweeper and recommend it highly. Have had it for less than one year.
Use Google and check anti-spyware reviews - Spysweeper is the highest rated from most websites' reviews.

(AdAware free version does not run in real time (in the background all the time) which Spysweeper does).

Another plus is SpySweeper offers free phone support for the year (and for every year you renew it).

I would NEVER buy anything from Norton or McAfee - phone support is limited or non-existent. So if there's a problem with their software or their instructions you have to pay them to find out what's wrong. RIPOFF.

For anti-virus I recommend Trend Micro PC-cillin. Also free phone support for the year (and each year it's renewed), and highest rated at many website's reviews.
I'm starting my 2nd year with this - I got the 2nd year free via 2 rebates that were offered in a special.
