The couple of locals I've known from way back when offered next to NOTHING compared to what is offered on line. I'm talking about money lines--vs point spreads. Baseball--they never offered run lines. Of course, I know my exposure is limited here, but to me. It's like comparing McDonalds to a 5 Star restaurant.

And with locals you can't throw in a 5 teamer for 5 bucks or so. At Mansion, you can bet $1.

My betting needs are rather simple. Therefore a local works, except for the hours.

Agree. Locals usually have much softer numbers and are most always behind the moves.
One needs BOTH in this day an time.

Prefer playing local (good ones round here). I understand the benefits of better odds, bonus' etc.. , however if you have a great local than he's probley an important person and you can rely on him to help you with anything if you need an important favor. That far outweighs better lines.

Anyone have some tips on how to find a good local?

Go to a bar for a college football or NFL game. Find the guy who is ridiculously interested in the no-name game. He's usually watching, say, the Browns and the Lions, and you're in California. And he's cursing or clapping every time there is a turnover. Ask him.

Cabdrivers - Hotel Clerks (in big cities) - Bartenders -- even in some cities, barbershops
