Something is amiss in the NFL. At least it was last year when favorites covered 57.7 percent of the time. The best favorites had done against the spread, going back the past 17 years, was 54 percent. Bookmakers are hoping for a correction this season where underdogs fare much better.

Seems like a trap article to me.

The underdog teams got a LOT better this year.

Just look at the Texans:

Eric Moulds, Mike Sherman as the offensive line coach, Mike Flanagan to fill in at center, drafted Eric Winston and Charles Spencer to fill in the gaps at tackle and for depth, got Jeb Putzier so that the TE can be utilized as a passing threat (finally), got a legitimate slot receiver from the Bengals...and that's just the offense.

Then go to the defense:
You've got Mario Williams to beef up the defensive line, as well as Anthony Weaver. You've got Jason Babin (first round pick) finally moving back to the position that he played in college (DE) instead of being forced to be an OLB, and then you've got great veteran depth at DT in Robaire Smith and Seth Payne, as well as first round pick Travis Johnson, who is also moving back to the position that he originally played in college (DT instead of DE).

The little teams may yet surprise this year (and I'm a guy who likes to play the favorites).

its funny, alot of analysts are hating on Moulds at this stage in his career. have a feeling he'll be rejuvinated now that he's out of Buffalo and playing with a competent QB (Losman was not competent).
