I dont plan to use it because my feeling is I am responsible for my own actions and for my own assessing of risk, but I do wonder what it says. I do not want to blame someone else if a book goes under.

I use info I gather at every forum online as well as time in business and past experience to determine where I play.

Regarding BOS, I hope theRX guarantee does not cover government closures. I would rather see it only cover books that go under or dissapear and stiff players. If it covers government closures, it is a meaningless guarantee. Whether theRX has the money to cover if BOS is doomed is unknown. I do know if the US government closed down 100 books, there is no way theRX could cover, so I would rather see it just guarantee normal stiff jobs.

Agreed, no one should rip theRX if they don't pay the guarantee. Not only is the credo "Caveat Emptor" in play here, but also the government stepping in like this falls into the area of extenuating circumstances. Furthermore, it was extremely magnanimous for theRX to provide the guarantee that they did. Not many companies will cover for advertisers if they screw consumers. I am going through a situation like that now with Beckett.com and they are saying they are not liable for a seller ripping me off for $600, but they can't be held liable because it could create a maelstrom of problems in the future. Also, if they gave a guarantee, advertisers could feel like they can act with impunity (as has happened to a degree at this place).

Just look back at gambling history, especially the Black Sox Scandal. Chick Gandil contacted Sport Sullivan about throwing the World Series and they agreed to throw it for $80,000. Now, at this time as well Eddie Cicotte talked to Bill Burns about ponying up the money to throw the Series and Burns agreed to finance a fix too. Of course both sides caught wind of this and felt that they did not have to pay since the other side would and in the end the whole fix almost fell through. Same principle here.
