bet on sports was served court papers last tuesday to stop receiving wagers and paying out american customers. bet on sports is waiting for the ruling on the appeal which is in the hands of the world trade org. they already ruled the United States can not stop wagering outside the US as it undermined world trade laws. now ive been dealing with milleninum since 1999 and was refered to by a very reputable service...northcoast sports. the US govt is totally wrong on this issue as in their banning online gambling legislation EXCLUDES state run lotteries, horse wagering and ticket scratch offs. the morons behind this is sen. kyl from arizona and congressman bob goodlatte from virginia. they are so hypocritical as 25% of the field competing in the WSOP won seats from satellites in "illegal" online tournaments. hopefully the appeal wont last too much longer.
as for the story on why bet on sports ceo david carruthers was arrested..heres why. since 9/11 the US and european countries have an agreement that any international flight passenger list will be handed over to weed out suspected terriosts. noticed i said terriosts. they abused that agreement and therefore arrested mr. carruthers on US soil. that and the hidden agenda of online gaming is the reason why talks between the US, europe and third world countries broke down today at an informal WTO meeting today. we have soldiers dying in iraq, the middle east crisis, soaring gas prices, a health care system that isnt worth a fuck and now due to the extreme weather.. an energy crisis. And these scumbags are more worried about me walking into my home and having a little entertainment with my money. i urge everyone to write their political leaders and tell them enough is enough!!! do not give an inch so we can protect our civil liberties. oh and i wish the offshore books would release the names of the hundreds of US politicians who are customers. sorry about the long thread but hopefully this will end soon in our favor.

(Sorry Jake, we don't allow emails to be posted)

You are pretty much right across the board. If you scan through the 1st few pages here, you'll see that many agree with you.

I'd like to see the exact wording about the flight list exchanges & the 'allowed' uses listed in the agreement.

p.s. That viewpoint isn't going to go over very well in the Springs. Between the military & the thumpers, you might just get run out of town!!

oh well im just fed up with this administrations freaking greed!!! they need to let vegas casinos regulate online gaming in the US as they are the most qualified. duh! lol.. and keep the money in the US. then the companies can post on the stock exchange and customers could not only wager but also invest in their online company. of course everything is taxed the correct way and that should satisfy everyone on both sides.

This has been discussed into the ground lately, but you're right. Gambling is wrong unless it's the taxed casinos, or even better yet the gov't sponsored dumb ass lottery that hits the poorest and most desperate the hardest. As long as they make their share of it, it's all good.

IMO, a lot of things are WAY out of control right now-and I mean a LOT.

If you mean this to replace offshore books, gross. I don't want a heavily taxed corporation running it (I bet they'll charge -110 etc) and it's good that the money goes out of the US. Creates employment and wealth in countries that aren't so well off.

i also feel the benefits for poorer countries and their online casino. thats why the WTO sides with offshore sites. i dont like that the US cares about it now when 10 yrs ago they didnt give a rats ass because their was hardly no money accured. now though with the gambling explosion they are just pissed they cant get their greasy paws on it

The US should allow any corporation that is willing to follow certain procedures to apply for a license to operate within in the U.S. (Of course at a yearly fee)

My procedures would include:

Must keep a balance on hand in a verifiable U.S. bank account equal to all players funds.

If offering exotics such as parlays over 3 teams, money lines over +300, etc, must keep and insurance policy with a list of insurers to pay off winners of any amount greater than 10% of the amount they keep on hand in the U.S. bank.

No bets over 1% of funds in the US held account.

Must ID players by: 1. Asking for driver's license number - running this number in database to determine over 18. 2. Doing a soft pull of a credit report and asking verification questions to make sure this person is who they say they are.

Must exclude all players on government welfare or food stamps, owing child support.

Must report winnings and losses by 1099 forms.

Must allow players to set a maximum monthly loss, to ban themselves for one year or to permanently ban themselves from online wagering. This database would be shared by all books licensed for U.S. wagering.

Then it is supply and demand. Do you want to keep operating from Costa Rica or would you like to follow the rules and say backed by the US government...

Sometimes I wish I was in Congress... Well not really because instead of saying can I please ask the honorable gentleman from Iowa for 2 minutes I would say, this is fucking retarded. Tell me how the hell you are gonna enforec this...

It is legal if you do not cross state lines.

As far as I know, there are 3 books (OWner groups) who offer pagers with lines that only go far enough outside Vegas that you can not be outside Nevada. With the pager you can call in your bets. Limits are small... Like $300-500 or something.
