7-5, +7.60, Streak: W1
3* St. Louis Cardinals -1 -121
Nice easy over yesterday by the 5th in the Tigers game. Heating up a bit here, as I have won 4 of the past 5, and the one loss in that stretch was a 5-3 blown save by Turnbow in the 9th. So, staying selective and feeling pretty confident.
Today I like the Cardinals to take care of business against the Rockies.
1) Cards will face an "easier" pitcher today. Cards were shut out yesterday 7-0 by the Rocks hot lefty Francis. Franics has been red hot lately, particularly has past 2 starts were he's 2-0 and got a sub 1.00 ERA. Today they'll face the right-handed Jennings. Jennings hasn't been pitching well lately, and he's mediocre at best overall anyway. Cards should have an easier time plating some runs today.
2) Cards will bounceback. Cards have been shut out 3 times this year, and they came back the next game to score a combined 19 runs. 6+ per game. If there is any stadium in baseball where you can't keep a team in an offensive rut for long, it's the one thats a mile high.
3) Cards go to their ace, who has had success against the Rockies. Well, who hasnt Carpenter had success against? But, teams love going to their ace to get them that critical bounceback win. Carpenter is 2-0, 0.83 career vs. Colorado, and he's been pitching well lately with a nice start last time out.
4) Cards have played well against the Rockies. They have won 5 of 7. Swept them once. Won 2 of 3. Now dropped the first game. Hardly a panic situation, and I look for them to continue their success tonight.
Good Luck
