Webb vs Lieber

50 DIME

Arizona D'Backs

Other than a 3 game stretch in late May and early June, Brandon Webb has been flat out unhittable. He is 11-3 on the year with the 2nd best ERA in the National League at 2.51. He is 3-0 over his last 4 starts with a 1.42 ERA. I am talking about 4 runs over his last 31 innings. How consistently good has Webb been all year? In his 21 starts he has allowed 2 runs or less in 12 of them. He is going for his 4th straight win tonight. His team has climbed back into the West by winning 11 of their last 14 and it seems to be they have put the whole steroid thing behind them and are playing like it. Tonight, I just feel Lieber has to be near perfect to beat Webb and when you are 0-7 for your career against the D'backs with an ERA of 6.26, I just don't think Lieber can pull it off, especially when you are 0-2 your last 3 starts including 8 runs over 12 innings in your last 2.

Great spot, great price for Webb and I feel great about this game. Lay it and expect the win.

The guy has been on fire...

So what is he down now? He has been getting crushed...a hot streak won't erase what he is down.

75 DIME

Baltimore Orioles

Let me first start out by saying I have known about Erik Bedard as early as last year and thought to myself when I saw him pitch that he had amazing stuff. What stopped him from being successful to the degree he should have been was the fact he would out think himself on the mound with his pitch selection. Enter Lee Mazzone. All Lee has done is turn this guy into a young Tom Glavine or a left handed Greg Maddux. Once Bedard relinquished control of his mind to Mazzone and allowed him to reprogram it if you will, Bedard hasn't lost again. He has won 7 straight starts while posting an era of 1.29 in that run and hasn't lost since June 11th. He has pitched 7 innings in five of his last 7 starts. Over his last 3 home starts he has allowed one unearned run over his last 22 innings. He is 7-1 at home this year with a 2.78 ERA. In this 7 game win streak, one of those wins was at Chicago against these White Sox to the tune of 8-1. Garcia lost that game allowing 6 runs, 4 earned on 10 hits over 6 innings. In his last 4 starts versus the O's, Garcia is 1-3 allowing 19 runs over 25 innings. You are getting a fantastic price with the hottest pitcher in baseball because they are facing the world champs. This is value you may not get with Bedard the rest of the year and it is value I must and will step out on. He has made me so much money this year, more than any pitcher in baseball because I have been on him in this hot streak. I had him last Friday and he got food poisoning, missed his start at Tampa, came back on Sunday and I didn't jump on him because I have had food poisoning and for me, 2 days wasn't enough for me to function normal again. Well, I am kicking myself in the butt for missing that win Sunday. I will not miss his win tonight, which will be #8 in a row. White Sox are struggling and Bedard is not the guy you want to see when you are struggling.
