Mr. Dewine responded promptly to my email. I can not gather which way he would vote, but I do believe he has done some research on this matter and likely read my letter. It is nice to hear that neither online gambling bill is scheduled for senate consideration. (Could also be a form letter, but who knows - if it is, that means lots of people are writing which is good.):

Dear Sean:
Thank you for contacting me regarding Internet gambling. I appreciate
knowing your views on this issue.
On-line gambling is a rapidly growing issue. For many, gambling on the
Internet is an enjoyable pastime, yet for others it is a painful addiction
that can destroy their finances and families. Most states already have
laws restricting on-line gambling.
As you know, there are currently two bills in the House of Representatives
which would restrict on-line gambling from the federal level.
Representative Leach introduced H.R. 4411- the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act of 2005 - which would prevent the involvement of banking
or credit institutions in financial transactions related to gambling.
Representative Goodlatte introduced H.R. 4777- the Internet Gambling
Prohibition Act - which would amend the federal criminal code to modify
the prohibition against interstate gambling. One such modification would
be to prevent gambling businesses from using the Internet to transmit
wagers or information assisting in the placement of wagers. Currently,
neither of these bills is scheduled for consideration by the Senate.
Again, thank you for contacting me. If you have any additional questions,
please feel free to contact me anytime.
Very respectfully yours,
MIKE DeWINE
United States Senator
