Guys

Since this is a sports forum I thought I would share my Roger Clemens story...I was having a discussion with family and friends last night and we were thinking back to the old days.

It was around 1993 when I went to a Pawtucket Red Sox game...to see my then hero at the time Mr. Roger Clemens pitching for them

I had tickets right behind the Pawtucket dugout..and there is a slim alley way where the players walk by down below, right in front of you...

The thing to do there is to lower a bucket with string with the ball and pen in it, so that the player can sign the ball and then you raise the bucket back up

It was way before gametime and I had a ball signed by a few of the other players, and I was anxiously waiting for Roger...I was in my teens at the time...a huge baseball fan, and an even bigger Rocket fan...

There he is, Roger...walking down the alley...I scream down Rocket, Rocket..He looks up, we make eye contact...I say Rocket can I get your autograph dude (hey I was younger) and he snidely brushes against the bucket, knocking the ball out and he continues to walk by....Some older gent yells down dont be an asshole Clemens and he looks back and slightly gives the finger down by his side back at us...

You were always an asshole back in the day to your fans, and you were well known for being an arrogant prick...I hope you never win another World Series....and I hope you get arthritis in your hand, and can never sign another contract again you asshole

Lost respect some time ago for the guy.

Not as a player, but as not having much class.

He's a great pitcher, but trust me..the guy is a REAL prick when it comes to attitude/fans

Maybe he is a bit more mellow now, but early year fans who had contact with the guy can tell you he was an idiot

Did you get the ball back? He actually knocked your ball out, unreal.

one of the batboys kindly put it back in the bucket and sent it back up

Yes..He intentionally walked right by the bucket and pushed it so that it went to the side and the ball rolled out....

He has you fooled then
I don't think even from the posts in this thread, that I am the only one that has experience with this guy being an idiot

He MAY have mellowed out since then....but trust me....it was as bad as it sounds

The steroids he pumps into his system must give him a short temper and make it difficult to get along with I guess????

Just because he didnt sign your balls.
Green horn.

Well..at this junction I am going to say you're saying it on purpose

If you think it is normal, 1 hour prior to gametime...for him to walk by, literally smirk as if "Im too good to sign a kids ball", intentionally knock the ball out, and then flip the bird our way.....I don't know what kind of life you live my friend....
