Was getting the lawn mower out of shed and there was a nest in there that I didn't see. They fucking attacked me :nopityA:

You'll be just fine unless you're allergic to them (you'll know asap if you are-you'll swell like hell).

Been a rough week for the ole Kruser

One is too many if you are allergic, which you are not since you posted.

Otherwise, unless you are a beekeeper and can take more, I would get really worried after about 50-100.

Use an anti-itch like Lanocaine (topical anaesthetic) to prevent scratching and infection. Probably too late for anti-inflammatory.

Man! That stinks! I hate getting stung.

Well, if you don't feel absolutely ill and swell up and have trouble breathing and stuff (which would mean you are having an allergic reaction) then as a couple of others have posted, you are well under the need to worry limit.

They still hurt like a bitch, though! I'll bet they were those red wasps, weren't they?

The red wasps hurt worse than a honey bee sting.

Hope things get better for you! tulsa

Brings back childhood memory of stepping on a nest and being stung all over my body. :flies: Four stings I wouldn't think you need to worry.

you might want to have someone extract the stingers. They could cause infection

KRUSER, you've been accurately informed in above posts. If you didn't have a severe allergic reaction within 0-30 minutes, you'll be fine.

For future reference to all of us....Wasps and/or yellowjackets (that's what KEITHRICHARDS stepped on most likely...they usually build their nests underground) have a non-lethal venom that for most humans will produce an itching that lasts 30-60 minutes and a very modest swelling that may last a few hours while your body detoxes the venom.

It burns pretty hard going in though. When combined with the obvious surprise of being hit by multiple wasps, it can be unsettling.

I am a residential gardener and despite my best efforts to keep an eye out I get popped a couple times a year.

Worst was when I leaned forward into a low palm tree to cut a frond and they had a nest on the backside of that frond.

Half a dozen pops in a split second and one just below my right eye...

OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!...followed of course by much profanity....Eff the wasps! Eff the palm tree! Eff, that hurts! Eff me, because I didn't shake the palm from a distance with a rake first.....
