Why don't we hear more about Greg Maddux's 1995 season? This happened during my lifetime and I never hear anything about this being a magical year. Look at these stats:

19-2 1.63 ERA 0.81 WHIP 181 K's 10 CG 3 Shutouts

Jesus that's amazing, especially considering that only two other starting pitchers in the NL had an ERA under 3 (Nomo and Ashby). No one else in the NL had a WHIP under 1. He led the league in ERA, WHIP, Complete Games, Wins, and Winning percentage and tied for the league lead in Shoutouts. Phenomenal year, yet even though it is recent, you never hear anything about it.

i've mentioned it before...

i would take maddux's run during his 4 cy youngs in a row over anybody else's run over the past 25 years...

75-29 and a highest era of 2.36

johnson was also good for a 4 year stretch...

Don't know about that, look at Pedro's stretch from 1997 to 2003, 7 years of dominance. During that 7 year stretch this is what he did:

118-36 with 34 Complete Games (and an AMAZING 13 CG's in 97 alone) 1408 IP 344 ER during this time for a DAZZLING 2.20 ERA

the reason i liked maddux so much is because he never threw a pitch over 90 mph in his life..

he would spin hitters into the ground and make them look like little leaguers with pinpoint accuracy...

he was fun to watch...

I can remember betting on baseball back then. Glavine and Smoltz were hot as well. Generally the Braves over/unders were NO HIGHER than 6 with the under being 5.5 at times.

And you know what??? You still bet the game under, even at 5.5, and it still went under by 2-3 runs usually

Maddux And The Big Unit are why love Betting Bases. Those were the days. There have been some other notable runs like Vasquez under when he was awesome and the Expos could not score. 93 Phillies every night with low lines for the first 50 games. Jack Morris and the Bluejays. I could go on and on. Twins with Viola. Etc. Really from betting runs that these things impressed me. 86 Mets every night.

At one time 13 complete games was nothing...a complete game from Pedro now is rare, although he has 4 this year....only 17 career shutouts, I would have thought he had more....you gotta finish to get credit for a SO.
