Most of you sharps on this forum could get a bet down if you were stranded on a deserted island so I could really use your input here. Some gutless sportsbooks out there have already stopped taking bets from US customers and more will probably follow. Is there a way around this?

Until now, I haven't had to really think of ways around this but would this work? When signing up with a book, you use a Canadien address and phone number and make sure you have a yahoo or hotmail email address. Both those email addresses are used all over so you wouldn't show your regular email address that might be from a cable company in the US. Then you fund and withdraw using neteller so you don't show any banking transactions from a US bank.

Would my idea work and can you guys come up with some innovative ways that would work? Thanks all.

Your idea wouldn't work as they could still detect the bets were coming from an internet connection in the USA.

So soccerbob you also need a Canadian ISP whom you phone 1-800 to logon.

I believe this is the last day for Sportsbook.com

Any specifics. Would find this hard to believe. What about the rest of the books in the family, Hollywood, sbetusa, etc?

RF, I think they will still take internet action, just no phone bets.

Gotcha, that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Hello, my name is Marcus. How may I help you today?
Me: Do you still accept players from the U.S.?
Marcus: Yes we do.
Me: ok, because I have heard you won't soon.
Me: If I called to place a bet tomorrow, would I have any problems at all?
Marcus: I'm sorry, we do not accept bets over the telephone. You can, however, quickly and easily make bets online at www.sportsbook.com. Can I help you access that website?
Me: no, thank you. That is all I have.

That's what I did when I started betting soccer a couple years ago. As you know, many books even back then wouldn't take US bettors. So my friend in Edmonton opened a bank account there and deposited some money I sent him. I have full access to the account.

So far I have not been banned from making bets using a US IP address. I doubt many books would do this as they have customers from other countries who work in the US who are using US IP's.

Please name the books in question-- only way to get relevant answers. Also because barring Betfair, there is nothing you can get from such a book that you can't get from a book that is NOT barring US customers.

As Santo said, they can tell from what country bet is coming from.

And to be really sure, you might sign up with Neteller utilizing Canadian physical address-phone / bank / & credit cards.

It'll cost you some money, but if yuu're interested all that's possible: complete with Ca tax number, credit line, and most important: a guaranteed & dedicated CA IP address.

Santo,
Certainly not, I take great pride that I've never turned anyone over in any walk of life. I was a puteroner about 10 Years ago and even today do a few favours for some friends in Marbella. If things get really bad then Agents is the only way to go for Americans and The Muggers will be out in force, so betting with someone like Me would make a lot more sense. :drink:

Thats not going to happen to Me, remember, I can legally have a Bet. the silly situation is posters might be worried sending Money to Me but care less sending it to an Off-Shore Book. Whats the Difference, its all a matter of Trust. :drink:
