For some prospects...Guzman being the biggest name. I like it ONLY if they can sign him. Dodgers are dedicated to winning the West, obviously.

They better sign Lugo long-term, Guzman was their most prized prospect, surprised they parted with him. When Kent comes back though where does he play, Nomar at first, Kent at second.

They get rid of one natural SS to bring in another one. That team has the worst chemistry.

Other than Carlos Lee, I may agree with that statement Joe. Lugo just about as good as Abreu and more flexible to boot. He can play just about anywhere

Did you pick Joe Falls as your name in honor of the former Detroit newspaper columnist?

Don't understand this move. They already have Furcal, Betimet and Kent. They don't need any more middle infielders or a third baseman. Play him anywhere but short and his bat is ordinary. They traded their top prospect for him?

Yeah...this really doesnt make much sense. Agree w/ te earlier posts about trading Guzman (their top prospect) for Lugo. I could only see him as bait for a Tejada or Soriano...was pretty suprised.

Also, I think very highly of Wilson Betemit...so I dont see Lugo as much of an upgrade.

On paper...yes...the Dodgers looks great on paper...but this could be a major mistake if they fail to re-sign Lugo or Guzman becomes an impact player.

Aa a DRay fan, I'm kind of sorry to see him go, but no way were they going to pay him the $8+ mil he reportedly wanted. Didn't care for him at first because of the circumstances in which he arrived. Wife beaters are low on my list. He has kept his nose clean and been solid if nothing else. Don't know anything about Guzman other than what I've read, but he was their top prospect,so I would say this was a good deal for TB. They would have lost Lugo at the end of the season anyway, so what the hell. If Guzman lives up to his billing, all the better. That's the point anyway. Besides, the Rays are looking at 2008 to make a run, so this gives them an opportunity to evaluate some of the players they have acquired. Upton has been called up, so it's put up or shut up time for his pompous ass.

As for the Dodgers, where will he play once Kent gets healthy? Are they willing to pay Lugo $8+ mil a season for 5 years? IF not, he could hit the market after the season, realize the market for his skills isn't what he thought, and be back in St Pete next season. Don't see where the Dodgers are coming from here. Lugo is solid, but not the difference.
