My buddy and i were having this discussion last night, he says Zambrano from the Cubs Or Webb...No one else really deserves much of a look in the NL, and after thinking about it, i couldn't think of any one else besides these two either..

Who else is there??

The AL is LOADED!

Chris Carpenter could still emerge, if it ended today, it would be real interesting to see who got it, Zambrano a very slight edge but his team sucks...

Glavine is still in the hunt but will probably fade, he already has been fading.

I did my AL CY YOUNG AWARD voting a couple days ago.

Although by SEASONS END seriously doubt he receives my vote........my vote right NOW actually goes to PAPELLBON.

Believe me, I can make a case for no less than FIVE pitchers at this time, so don't take my PAPELLBON choice at this time to seriously.

Right now, my second choice is VERLANDER from the Tigers who is having an OUTSTANDING season if you look at his numbers.

But as mentioned, the TOP FIVE guys could actally flipflop from my top spot to my 5th choice literally from GAME TO GAME.................ITS THAT CLOSE.

VERLANDER throws a shutout tonight against the RAYS and suddenly he will be my top choice.

Having stated the above, believe if I had to pick a FAVORITE to win the award right now, may go with LIRIANO.

AL isn't the question...

Haven't really intently looked at the NL picture and would want to spend considerable time looking at it before giving my thoughts.

Only brought the AL up for the fact that a friend and me juist happened to intently study and review the scenario in that league in depth for no less than an hour this past weekend regarding the CY YOUNG AWARD race.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this thread towards the AL side.

Right now it's Brandon Webb. But yeah, other than Zambrano and an outside shot for Carpenter it's hard to find anyone else. I guess maybe Glavine or Penny with an outside shot.

The NL must be so bad if we can only find a couple of contenders and even if those contenders were in the AL, they'd have no shot at all.

Josh Johnson has the best numbers but will never get a sniff.

top 3 in the nl: 1. webb 2. carpenter 3. zambrano

I know Carpenter has a slightly better WHIP and ERA, but hard for me to imagine he is ahead of Z, who is 12-1 since May first, while Carpenter is 7-4. Not to mention Carpenter is on the better team.

It is amazing though that at this point in the season, very few NL pitchers have stood out...

At their current pace, no way Carpenter gets voted ahead of Z. Z also has 4 HR's and a SB.
