I nominate Sarah Michelle Gellar and Adrian Greiner (Vinny Chase on "Entourage") in "Harvard Man". Basically, Vinny..er...Adrian is a big star on the Harvard hoops team and Sarah Michelle gets him to throw a game. Highlight of the film is her getting $500,000 down with a local book on an Ivy League game without any problems (or without the line moving). Writer/Director is noted sports gambling degenerate James Toback (who also wrote the script for "Bugsy") and should know better. Here's the plot synopsis from IMDB:
>>
Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a Holy Cross cheerleader named Cindy who is dating the point guard for the Harvard basketball team. Her father is a mob boss, and she gets her boyfriend Alan (played by Adrian Grenier) mixed up in sports betting. Joey Lauren Adams plays Alan's philosophy professor with whom Alan's got something going on the side. Eric Stoltz is an undercover FBI agent infiltrating Cindy's father's mafia operations. Rebecca Gayheart plays Stoltz' co-FBI agent/girlfriend, and Ray Allen plays Grenier's Harvard teammate.
<<
Just a brutal film...not sure if there's ever been a *good* sports gambling movie (though DiNiro's portrayal of Frank "Ace Rothstein" Rosenthal in "Casino" could be considered one I guess) but this sure ain't it...
Adrian Greiner ought to be glad he got the gig on "Entourage" because in this film he puts in arguably the worst acting performance since the days of Jami Gertz and Andrew McCarthy...
