From... TheBIGM.COM
Mr Pine Chip, undefeated in six starts this year, has earned the role of 7-5 morning line favorite in the $1.5 million Hambletonian on Saturday at the Meadowlands.
One of three finalists trained by Trond Smedshammer, Mr Pine Chip will start from post six with driver Brian Sears. In his last two starts, Mr Pine Chip set a mark of 1:52 in the $375,000 Stanley Dancer Memorial and won his elimination race for the Hambletonian. Owned by Joe Sbrocco and Southwind Farms, the three-year-old son of SJ's Caviar has won 11 of 19 lifetime starts and boasts earnings of $571,905.
"He does everything you ask of him," driver Brian Sears noted. "I haven't gotten him tired at all in both starts I've raced him. I'll just have to keep an eye out, see where the speed is and get the best position I can."
Smedshammer, who won the 2004 Hambletonian and trotting's Triple Crown with Windsong's Legacy, will also send out Here Comes Herbie and Blue Mac Lad in the 2006 Hambletonian.
