How do you cope when losing in fball?

I'd like some advice....

Usually in baseball or basketball season, if you lose, you don't have the loss haunting you, cause you can just try to win the next day and feel better about it, but with football, after a losing weekend, you gotta wait one week to hop back on that horse and try again.

So I was wondering, how do you guys cope from Monday to Friday without the thoughts of the losing weekend creeping back into your heads while waiting?

I know some of you might say, "just get over it", but come on, we're talking about money, and after 1 or 2 or 3 straight losing weekends in a row, doubts settle in, and somehow your mind gets hesitant, but at the same time, you have a hard time waiting cause you want win as soon as possible again to get some confidence back, and it seems like it takes forever from Monday to Friday to pass by until you can go at it again.

Some of you might say bet on Monday night fball or the middle of the week college game, but those are "action type games" to me and I rather stick to a full schedule of better games on sat & sundays.

My advice I'm trying ask your opinions for pertains to how I can deal or cope during mon to fri, especially after losing 1,2 or 3 weekends in a row.

Opinions?

I fire in bets all week, so I'm over it and concentrating on the next week usually before SNF is done.

I find that I do just as well (if not better) when I focus on just the MNF game, or the mid week college games. Find myself going a little crazy on saturday and sunday.

But that's just me.

My gambling money is an investment - like stocks. I don't get down when my stocks go down and I expect my gambling money to go up and down (more up)

nothing feels worse than a losing football weekend. and one can easily try to make up for it by just throwing the losses on mnf to try to reclaim the losses. what i do is stare at the games that caused my losing weekend and figure out what circumstances caused me to lose the game. many times according to the box score im right on with my selection. so i analyze what caused this team to lose. poor special teams play, missed fg's,penalty's,bad call from ref or an injury. many things contribute to a team losing. but ive learned to take it in stride. football is a long season and i set up a monetary goal for myself in aug for the upcoming football season. and that is what helps me is my long term goal.

How do you cope?? As if losing cash betting football is a terminal illness or a tradgic family loss. Sorry bro if you need to "cope" with a losing weekend or need to keep yourself occupied until the next weekend you have a serious gambling problem

Copping

In the early part of the football seasons (NCAA & NFL), there still is MLB [although it has been busting my b*lls the last few wagers]. In October, there normally are NCAA games on during the mid-week [plus that World Series thing]. At the end of October or early November, the t'breds have their championship day, World Championship Day (Breeders Cup Day). Come November, the NHL should be worth looking into and the NBA should have it's daily mismatches to cash on as well. By mid-December, for me the local track opens for a seven month calander meet which will keep me busy until after the first Saturday in May. By then, MLB is back in play. And so on, and so on, and so on. On a more serious note, try not to focus on the non-cash positive weekend. Hell, look at how poorly my selections did tonight (down $2,805 with the STL game [over] pending for $200 <here>). For me, it was a bad day and Friday will be better.

Okay, but what if after losing tonight, you had to wait 5 days before you could bet on anything again. How would you spend those 5 days trying not to let the losses disturb you?

That's the best advice--if you're so emotionally tied up in every winning or losing session you're definitely not in the right frame of mind to handicap objectively.

I don't think you guys are getting what I'm saying....

Let me rephrase the question.....
What "IF" you guys HAD to wait atleast 5 days after a huge losing day, how do you keep yourself from thinking about it too much during those 5 days while you wait to bet again???

glenn,

I don't want to sound crass, but their is always something to wager on the next day. Always. That's not a word I toss around lightly, worse case would be using your on-line account and head to the casino (a major no no). The cash set up in the accounts are not at risk type money, meaning I could drop every cent tonight and not have it effect my life situation. Yes, it would sting but I'd rather wager the money than put it into the stock market. Then again, I don't see things the way everyone else does either. Good luck to you.

if you let a losing weekend frustrate you over the entire week your handicapping will suffer immensely

I read the boards and try to get a feel of what the guys i follow are looking at for the upcoming week. Or if i'm really pissed i just break some shit. Is there album that you burn off energy when listening to? You may also want to track the lines as it sounds as if you play with a local, what value there is on Sunday night may very well be gone when it's time for you to pull the trigger.

Not to mention that you will be frustrated all week for half the weeks of the season. Whatever happens is whatever happens, and the sooner people can accept that and live with it the less frustrating their lives will be. This applies to life in general, not just sportsbetting.

Once the weekend football games are over, I spend the next 5 days studying information on the upcoming week ahead and gradually short listing possible plays. If you focus ahead and do diligent study you will find there is plenty of work needed to be successful. If you think you can wait until the following Saturday/Sunday and then just place your bets and expect to win over time you are mistaken. This business takes hard work to be successful. Put in the time and you might be rewarded for your effort. Maybe.

That is good advice, but how do you just accept it? Does that come with age? Experience with losses over time?
