To all you folks who are complacent and convinced they don't have enough time, it's time to stand up and fight.

As the Senate begins a four-week recess, Frist laid out his agenda for September, which will include port security legislation, completion of the annual budget for the Defense Department, a bill banning certain types of Internet gambling and legislation codifying court procedures for military prisoners held by the U.S. at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

This is scary. I think Kyl has Shelby (Banking Committee Chair) and Frist in his back pocket on this bill. This could be a rough football season.

God, how I despise these hypocrital Neocons. Is it 1984 yet? America needs to wake up to the American branch of the Taliban! LT:pucking: :nohead:

I just see way too many posts where people say it's dead, there's no time.

It doesn't take that much time, and they may also try to attach it to that telecom bill.

But when the Senate returns in August, there will be just 15 legislative days left before he wants to send senators back to their states to campaign for the Nov. 7 federal elections.

How much legislation do you really think will get done in 15 days? Very little in my opinion.

Have they passed next year's budget yet? If they still need to do that it will take a lot of time...

I love how he orders this...

"Frist laid out his agenda for September, which will include port security legislation, completion of the annual budget for the Defense Department, a bill banning certain types of Internet gambling and legislation codifying court procedures for military prisoners held by the U.S. at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba."

Yea, we have to address that internet gambling problem first, and then MAYBE if there's enough time we'll talk about those people at Guantanamo.

This legislation has less to do with national priorities and more to with Kyl cashing in on some political IOU's collected over a 10+ year timeframe. The most disconcerting part is that no Senator has yet to voice strong opposition to the passing of HR4411 in the House.

This year was also a record low for days worked by senators.

I am sure he has 70-80% support from the American public for blocking internet gambling. Yeah right! If he says that he is flat out lying. More like 80% of the American public doesn't care.

If this passes I predict it will be in December in the quiet of the night. At that point no one will really care about debating it and quite possibly it might be a version the House won't approve of. Perfect solution, all those who think it helps their conservative or ultra-liberal credentials gets to say they worked to pass the legislation, but blame the others for its failure.

If that bill passes then what exactly does that mean & how will they enforce the law?
