My Round-Robin parlay had St. Louis losing, accounting for 3 losses, of course. New York and Boston won by only 1 run, which pushed them and made Minnesota straight action, which explains my 2-0 on picks for anyone that was wondering.

Picks will be coming in a bit. Good luck to all tomorrow.

August 5, 2006 MLB Picks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets
First 5 Innings : New York -.5 (-109) ... 2.18 Unit / 2.00 Unit

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm saving the write-up's for now ... If anyone would like to know my take on my picks, I'd be glad to share some information.

Also, I have a "newb" question for the pros in here ?

On pinnacle, for the first 5 innings ...

Why is it New York pk (-148) ... New York -.5 (-109)

Guess I'm not understanding it ... pk and -.5 seem like the same thing, as the last time I remembered, you can't score .5 runs. Now I know the -1 still might push b/c they can win by 1 run, of course, but if they're going to be in the lead (pk), they're going to be ahead by .5. I guess, why do they have that option, and why is the juice that different ?

Okay, I'm not a complete idiot ... I do know that if the game is tied and / or Philadelphia is winning, it's a Loss for me !!

However, my choices are New York (pk), which means you're picking New York to be winning after 5 innings. I can also pick New York (-.5), which means you're picking New York to be winning after 5 innings, correct? So my main question was they're the same exact thing, aren't they? And if they are, why the big difference in juice ?

Exactly that!! You get to push on one so that's like giving you two outs, therefore, the juice is higher.

Okay, maybe I'm not understanding or people aren't understanding what I'm trying to state here so I'll try to start from the beginning ...

I log on to Pinnacle ...

I go to the First 5 Innings Option ...

I had the primary option of New York (pk) which was at -148 ...
I had a secondary option of New York (-.5) which was at -109 ...

Okay, now let's go through the possibilites with both options ...

New York (pk) @ -148
If Philadelphia is leading after 5 innings ... LOSS
If game is tied after 5 innings ... LOSS
If New York is leading after 5 innings ... WIN

New York (-.5) @ -109
If Philadelphia is leading after 5 innings ... LOSS
If game is tied after 5 innings ... LOSS
If New York is leading after 5 innings ... WIN

Now with (pk) and (-.5) there is no possibility of a push. I understand with a -1 line there is the possibility of a push, but as you can see from the examples above, there is 3 basic things that can occur, with the exact same results.

So, given the exact same results, why is the juice significantly different between the 2 options ? Or am I not understanding something here ?

Yeah this is wrong

If game is tied after 5 innings ... LOSS

Its a push when u play pk. but a loss if u take -.5 Its not like soccer

lol @ myself I guess

I was always under the assumption the (pk) is pick winner !!!

I've never played a pk before (like I said, first year of betting), so I thought it was pick the winner. And even though it is pick winner, it's giving you the extra "out" by giving you a push if the game is tied. I thought pick winner MUST be leading.

Yup. Pk stands basically for 'pick'em'. Pick the winner is correct.

PK means Pick em. No handicap in the line for either team.

The Mets -.5 in the other bet is a handicap to help the phils and hurt the mets.
