to move a line in foots, baskets, bases, ect...?

We see line moves all the time in sports and I was wondering how much money it took for books to move lines on games. I know they are looking for 50/50 action, but they don't always get it.
Does anyone know if it is a certain dollar amount? I understand it would be for locals and such, but what about the big operations. At what point do they move the line?

definitely depends on the book and the sport. I have moved lines with as little as a $100 bet. I have also bet 10k and not budged it an inch.

I played Rail's unknown tennis match yesterday and noticed the line move after I placed the bet from -123 to -130. I put a couple hundo on it and wondered if that is what caused it to move. Especially, since this match was unknown and I figured the book couldn't be getting too much action on the match.

keep in mind many follow Rail's tennis picks so you were not the only one hitting that line

understand, but the line moved right after i placed the bet. it seems my action on that play at that time had something to do with the line moving. It was 1.5hr before the schedule start of the match.
did my action push the line over the threshold?

Pinny........1500 limits on tennis.

Wagered the maximum at -110 and line went from -110 to -118 .........they were using a ten cent line.

other than rail followers I doubt they were getting very much action on that obscure match

How do you know your $100 bet moved a line? I seriously doubt it did.

Early college hoops totals at Pinny usually have a $150ish limit. $100 certainly moves it.
