It is the DOJ's fault that BOS won't give you your money??? :missingte

BOS simply did not have the money. If they did, they would have paid everyone who requested a payment immediately.

Then they open up shop as BOS or under a new name or whatever once they feel comfortable doing so and email everyone and boom everyone would come back - if you pay when the DOJ is beating your ass, you are a good book.

Plain and simple, they did not have the money to pay players and this may be a big part of why they were targetted.

BetOnSports - Liquidation of Assets Has Begun, New Buyer Likely

August 9, 2006

BetOnsports has begun selling all of its assets. An insider has reported that there is a major company involved, stating, "someone comparable to Party Poker."

By their actions today, BetO nsports is scaling down too. They have moved all employees (what's left of them) to the 9th floor of their Costa Rican offices located in the Mall San Pedro.

This is significant because BetOnSports had occupied virtually every floor and had hundreds of employees before they began liquidating their assets. Now, just a skeleton crew remains during the transition.

One other inside source who chose to remain anonymous states, "the real reason why BOS did not send back player funds is because of this event. They were aggressively seeking a buyer, they found a whale, and had they (BetOnSports) returned all of the money back to their customers, no one would have been interested in buying them out."

It is expected that BetonSports will be making an "official" statement about this monumental event possible by the end of this week and certainly no later than Monday.

If the sale gets finalized as it is expected to be, then all player funds are safe and secure. The new buyer will simply take over where BetOnSports left off.

How all of this will play out legally with respect to the current indictments handed out to the company by the DOJ office in Missouri is anyone's guess and remains to be seen.

BetOnSports - Insider Says Customers Will Get Stiffed

August 9, 2006
Suddenly, it isn't looking as good as it had earlier today. We got word that the deal that was on the table between BetonSports and a potential buyer may be in jeopardy. It appears that legal complications arising from the recent indictments against BOS may prevent any buyers from pursuing negotiations further.

This is what the insider had to day.

"Word has it that they have sold the equipment from the 5th floor to Dalton Wagner for a ridiculous price and it's being shipped to a destination immediately as soon as the moving vans arrive. (probably Panama)"

"They sold the gym equipment, and all of the company vehicles as well. Looks like they're making a run for the hills. If I were the Costa Rican authorities I would make sure they have made good on all the liquidations to the employees and paid their taxes before they exit the country"

All of the equipment probably has BetonSports, Millennium, WagerMall, and V-wager database on it...so the customers probably can kiss their balances goodbye!!!"

Clip Joint if you have smart comments towards the ones who lost $$ then why dont you keep them to yourself and why spend your time even reading the posts about those of us that lost $$.
Most of us come hear for information and not sympathy but there is no reason to be a smartass to those of us who have lost $$
A lot of us never knew these boards existed before this scandal. You can tell this by the low # of posts by many of the posters that lost $$.
I wish I would have had known about this forum earlier but I did not. What percentage of BOS customers out there even knew about this forum? 5%???

The DOJ probably went after BOS because they stiffed players.

As I said before, even the biggest bible thumping US attorney did not wake up and say "Hhmmmmm there's some offshore wagering going on. I think I will spend a few million investingating BOS." That simply is not how it works.

The same attorney doesnt wake up and go hmmm theres some fraud on the interent going on, I better investigate.

What happens is people complain. Most people thought BOS was legal and when some got stiffed I am sure some called the cops or FBI's internet crime division. 50 or 100 or 1000 complaints add up and then the file gets thrown on some attorneys desk or in a list of files to review. Then the bible thumping attorney grabs it.

Just the same, Ms Hanaway did not wake up and say hmmm there's some guys banging sheep. Let's investigate. No, some people complain - animals right groups, mothers who saw it happen, etc. Then she sees the file and pushes for a new law.

BOS got investigated for one of three reasons:
1. They were stiffing customers and people complained.
2. They were really operating in the US with vans, etc
3. They were tied to organized crime and were brought up in another investigation that led to this one.

Thus Pinnacle and the like should be just fine.

I don't think many of us knew the DOJ was going to try
to take BOS down. Having some funds in BOS books was
an acceptable risk. Many profited from them.

I feel for anyone with money in there...I just find it funny when guys start pointing the finger at the government as if it is there fault BOS is not giving the players their money.

I for one am glad the government is going after crooks in the industry. It has nothing to do with online gambling and the sooner people realize that, the better off and the less dramatic everything will be.

Nobody is piling on so all the drama queens can go back to their day jobs.

I would never want anyone to lose their money...risk vs reward...you take a risk with shit books, sometimes you suffer. But be a man about it and accept you made a bad decision. I get tired of hearing all the crying about how everything is the governments fault.

The government told BOS to give the customers their money...but it is their fault that BOS is holding your money and won't give it back?

Wow! Can anyone else verify this information? I am not 100% confident in the source for reliable info.

The lack of people being paid is a combination of the governments and BOS's fault.

If the government does not get involved, people would still be being paid.
If BOS had enough money to pay and chose to, people would be getting paid.

Most likely BOS operated without all funds availabel (They used some and ran on new deposits).

There are many companies in the US that would end up screwing investors and the people who gave them loans if the US government shut down because they are not break even.

When you give money to a sportsbook, you are making a loan.

I think they are both at fault. I am just happy this seems to be the only book the DOJ is going after or whose CEO is dumb enough to come here - doesn't matter. They are the same thing.
